AMRITHA PATTERY

My mother recently had an eye consultation at Puthalath Eye Hospital, and I regret to say that the experience was very disappointing. This is actually the second instance where we’ve encountered troubling behavior at this hospital. The first incident, which took place on 30/10/2024, did not directly involve my mother, but she witnessed it personally. A patient experienced an allergic reaction after receiving eye drops from Dr. Rabia Kawser. While such reactions are sometimes unavoidable, what was truly concerning was the doctor’s lack of urgency and responsibility afterward. Despite the patient’s attendants repeatedly asking for help, the doctor remained dismissive and indifferent. This lack of concern was upsetting to everyone present, including my mother. The second incident, which occurred today (24/04/2025), affected my mother directly. She was seen by Dr. Jency James, who administered eye drops and asked her to wait. Although she followed instructions and waited patiently for nearly two hours—far longer than the advised 1 to 1.5 hours—there was no update or further guidance. When she finally approached the doctor on her own to ask what was happening, she was met with a harsh and inappropriate response: “Your ears are vacant, right? You should have been listening – only your eyes were treated.” This remark was not only disrespectful but particularly unacceptable coming from a healthcare professional speaking to an aged patient. Elderly patients deserve patience, clarity, and compassion not sarcasm or insensitivity. On top of this, the overall quality of treatment was unsatisfactory. Given these repeated issues, I cannot recommend Puthalath Eye Hospital. If you're thinking of going there for treatment in Calicut, I strongly advise looking at alternative options where patients are treated with more respect and care.

"I recently visited the hospital to consult a doctor for my daughter. While there are some very good and polite staff members, I faced issues with a few who displayed unprofessional attitudes. I had an appointment, but there was confusion, and I waited for an hour without being called. Upon inquiring, I was told to sit in the usual doctor's area. I patiently waited, but even after the eye test and dilation, I was met with rude behavior when I asked about our turn. I just wanted to know how many patients were ahead of us, but the response I received was dismissive and disrespectful. Frustrated, I went to the reception to address the issue, but even there, the staff seemed unwilling to listen to my concerns. Fortunately, a male staff member stepped in, listened to my problems attentively, and ensured we were promptly taken to the doctor. While I appreciate the efforts of the helpful staff, the behavior of a few individuals was disappointing. I hope the hospital addresses this to ensure all patients are treated with kindness and respect." Only for yesterday's experience I rated one star...

Never ever go to this dirty hospital, greedy people for money. I visited first time and issues never get solved, each time they give different reason and charge fees. I had a small issue, after visiting puthalathu hospital, things have become worst and then I had to visit comtrust. So guys himble request do not waste time and money in puthalathu. When enquired many people faced this issue but never shared a review here or may be the team must have deleted such reviews.

Worst place ever! They have air conditioners, but they're just for show. It's extremely hot in here, with only two or three fans.

Overall good experience. Had under gone a YAG - Pl Laser procedure for both eyes. Dr explained all well and the expense is moderate Compared to near by eye hospitals. Actually this defect of my eyes were detected by one of the doctor at this place during a normal lense power check. After procedure follow ups are well managed and after all other medical and reception staff behaved very well. Can say... Definitely Puthalath Eye Hospital is well managed professional institution.
