Such a disorganised staff. Dr might be good but not sure what’s the point when they just want the crowd. Unnecessarily making patients to come and wait for 3 hours. 1.5hr idle sitting nothing to do other than watch tv and use ur phone and spoil your eves further so that they can treat well!! Also noticed if staff knows someone then they get to go first no matter what your appointment is. On the whole very bad experience. Will I visit again - No I was suggested to do more test. I am not going for this since I do not wait/waste another half a day Will I recommend anyone - NOT AT ALL. Go and see your local dr they will do the same this and will not make you wait more than the time required.

I recently underwent cataract surgery here, and Dr. Shikka’s care throughout the procedure was truly exceptional. Mrs. Glory kindly assisted me with follow-up visits, and the entire hospital staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Despite the severity of my cataract condition, the surgery was a success thanks to the expertise of the experienced doctor Mrs. Shikka. Extending my thanks to all Kunal & professional staff as well !!
Not a good experience in R A puram branch of shankar netralay. Staff are rude especially a lady named Glory. Admin manager herself sits on reception and is not bothered too much about the staff behavior. There is only one doctor in entire hospital having 2 room interconnected from the back. He takes in 3 or 4 patience at a time and does not see anyone properly. The moment we entered the doctor's room, the first question compounder asked was " are you ready for the operation/procedure". Mind you by this time, doctor has not even seen the patient and we had gone for a general check up. This shows the training doctor and all staff have received at this hospital. Doctor did not answer a single question and on top of did not show a single image showing any issue in the eye. He just wanted to know when can we do the operation. Horrendous experience and pathetic behavior.
I wish to give zero rating if possible. Horrible staff service. Very arrogant behavior by the staff. Will never visit again. Pls go to a nearby eye doctor instead of wasting your time here.
Really a bad hospital with extremely rude reception people. This cannot be a hospital as there is no ventilation and does not have enough chairs for people to even sit. No breathing space with no whr to sit.
From regular eye tests to advanced eye surgeries, Sankara nethralaya takes care of all our needs for eye health. They maintain the records, so they can access your eye history and give proper treatment. Though it is a bit far away from our house, I prefer to go there as they do comprehensive checkup and are available for any further needs.
I have been visiting this place since 2017 for my brother. The staff here had been polite until my recent visit in April 2023. I would like to share some points for new visitors: 1.) Taking appointment with any doctor of your own choice is not easy. Usually they themselves choose the suitable specialist for you. However, we are satisfied with the doctor we were assigned. Although more often than not we considered during our 7 years journey to actually consult some specific doubts that could go deeply technical. But it doesn’t happen here. A satisfactory consultation that could make us feel relaxed about a certain procedure is hard to get. Doctors usually refrain from going into the details and follow the policy of minimal exchange of words. Then again, glaucoma management is still at a very young phase of development and most of its treatment highly rely on hit and trial schemes. 2.) The hospital staff in my recent visit seemed new. The new recruits are not as polite and helpful as the earlier ones. Neither are they experienced so it is possible they will make you wait, run or stand unnecessarily through the fault of their own little experience. But that can improve with time. 3.) The status and dignity/humility of nursing staff has also been on decline. I came to notice that after the surgery, the nurses kept us waiting for 3 long hours even after all the final paperwork regarding discharge was finished. Then came a sister and starting telling us in loud voice that she told us to give patient food in one hour why did we not do that. She never said that. In fact, the was the first time she ever showed us her face. Also, they are supposed to give the patient any eye drops left over during surgery as the payment for them is included in the bill. But they didn’t give us anything. Neither the left over medications, nor the post-operative care instructions. 4.) The hospital is great because of the doctors and the vast experience it has gathered throughout the years. I hope the prevailing/rumoured language struggle in Chennai doesn’t eclipse this hospital’s glorified presence in the eyes of patients from other states. This indeed is a very valuable and hospitable place. 5.) Lastly, looking at the heavy gatherings in its building, I would say this hospital is heavily understaffed and in need of more number of equipments and facilities. One has to wait for 3-4 hours even when they reach exactly at the time of their appointment. These people are in constant struggle of doing something great for the community. We should always cheer them up and help them as much as possible, transcending the barriers of language, state identity, race or anything immaterial as such. God Bless.
A known brand name among those who want to get their eyes operated and treated. This particular branch is newly opened. Has all kinds of facilities, right from accessible moving space to lifts, clean toilets, cafeteria, and a car and bike parking where is space is there, based on availability. First of all doctors, & Hospital staffs like the secretaries are well-mannered and would pay special attention to each and every patient and would gladly assist and guide based on whatever doubts and needs the patient and attender would have. The only issue is the limited patient holding capacity of the building. Otherwise, one can have no doubts regarding getting eye treatment here. This is best in class.
