Peninsula Optometric Center: Marina

I went here as it's a sister shop to the salinas location which has provided me great care over the last decade. The dr and the exam went every nicely However, when it came to me choosing the sales man messed up big time. I expressed asked for a normal distance pair of lenses and a normal pair of computer glasses Then I come in to find that they have only ordered me a progressive pair of computer glasses and no distance. Which is completely useless! I would use them maybe 10% of my life I enquire as to what to went so horrifically wrong only to find out the sales man had not listened to a work I've said when I asked for two distance glasses. Then when I tried to clarify they still insisted that I get progressive for distance. I had to firm tell them I just wanted distance lenses. Now I have to wait 3 more weeks of not being able to drive or function properly on a day to day basis All in all it was a terrible experience and I wouldn't advise people to use their services.

My favorite optometrist! I have made many prescription glasses with them. Absolutely zero errors. Eye exams are done to precision. I have been going here since 8-9 years. I love that I can make tinted, gradient , any color sunglasses. I have made prescription lenses in Pink, brown, clear, black.I recommend this place.

The Optometrist I saw was kind. My experience with the front office staff was disappointing starting from my first appointment. Staff did not communicate with Doctor that I did not want a con tact eye exam as it would not be covered by my insurance. Doctor performs exam anyways. I pay for exam and don't make a fuss even though I had declined exam because I didn't realize what exam was been done until it was too late. One month later I receive a text that my glasses are ready for pick up. I arrive, and they can't find my glasses even though someone reached out confirming they'd arrived. During this interaction the two ladies at the front desk seem to be put out with having to assist me. There was also a vape lying on the desk in plain eye sight. If you're not going to be professional the least you could be is nice. At this point I've picked up my glasses but my contact trials haven't arrived. I call 1.5 months later after my initial appointment (December 4th) for a status on my contacts. The woman I spoke with on the phone was rude and unhelpful. At this point I've requested a refund because they have ZERO answers for me in regards to when my trial contacts will arrive. I have a -9.5 prescription and I've been wearing contacts/glasses for over TWO DECADES. Never have I ever encountered such an incompetent and unpleasant staff. I have picked up my trials because I can't afford NOT SEE for another 2 months (wearing physical eye glasses at my prescription 24/7 isn't feasible and causes headaches). However, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and my insurance.

Definitely not a kid friendly place. I have been a customer for years & never had a complaint except for their prices. (I take my Rx elsewhere). Today I took in my 2 littles who, to be fair, weren't having a great day. As I went after my 3 year old who darted out the door, the receptionist yells, excuse me there's a co-pay! As if I was trying to skip out on my bill. The doctor was awesome but the staff don't know how to handle children & treat customers poorly. I'll never go back.

As a regular patient at the Salinas office, I reached out to Marina Optometric Center when I couldn't be seen in Salinas. The Marina office got me in same day to treat my eye condition. Front desk staff is very helpful and friendly. Dr. Bockenstedt is very knowledgeable and took extra time to explain what was happening with my eye and scheduled several subsequent appointments to follow up. Fast forward to 2026, I again experienced an issue with the same eye, so I called Marina Optometric Center, and they again got me in same day. Very impressed with their staff and highly recommend their office.

These gals are just terrific! I love my visits. The staff is top notch and so easy to work with. They get to know you so they can give you the best vision.

I recently called to schedule a new patient appointment and, unfortunately, the receptionist came across as cold and rude, and seemed bothered and annoyed by the information I provided and the questions I asked. As the first point of contact, the receptionist is setting the tone for the entire office especially for new patients like myself. I had heard great things about this office and was highly recommended to come here, but this has left me with reservations. Will be trying another office. Edit: After reading numerous reviews, it's clear there's an ongoing issue with the front desk staff. The office manager and physicians should seriously consider how this is impacting their patients and the overall atmosphere of the office. Unfortunately, this is a hard pass for me.

I have always enjoyed my annual visit. The staff are so nice and helpful. Their system is efficient and helps you get on to the rest of your day.
