I have known Dr. Portis for a great portion of my life, trusting him to take care of my vision and eyes each year. When I have finally reached the point of frustration over having to put on glasses and contacts (which often caused discomfort), I inquired with Dr. Portis if LASIK was for me. I was instantly able to get a consultation appointment and was immediately deemed a candidate for the procedure. Within a few weeks I found myself in the very comfortable LASIK facility. The procedure itself took minutes. I was not nervous at all as I have been with my most trusted eye doctor for years. Within a day of the procedure I already was able to see clearly without any corrective lenses. Now, 3 months post-procedure, I have 20/20 vision and am so happy, confident, and satisfied with my decision to choose Dr. Portis for this procedure.

My primary care physician referred Dr. Portis when I inquired about LASIK and am now 8 days post op. After wearing glasses and contacts for 32 years, I am able to see perfectly without them. I recently had a bad surfing accident and damaged my left side of face. My left eye orbital floor got fractured and my left eye got damaged... retina was damaged and my vision was compromised. I was referred to Dr. Portis from the Queen's Emergency Room. Dr. Portis made me feel at ease from the beginning of my treatment and visit with him. His technician, Freddy, makes you feel comfortable and is very professional, knowledgable, and caring as well Dr. Portis answered all my questions, he is/was very thorough with all the information, he has a lot of knowledge of the eye works. I was very worried about my vision and if my retina was torn but after seeing Dr. Portis a few times - I gained my confidence back. My vision is now almost back to normal and my injury to eye is almost back to normal as well. I trust and respect Dr. Portis - he really helped me throughout my injury and recovery. He really takes his time out to talk to you and make you feel calm and at ease. Dr. Portis is also an outstanding photographer - has a great eye and vision for his art- you'll see his photography all through his office. Shows you that he has a patience... He is so thorough and takes his time with you. I really HIGHLY recommend going to see Dr. Portis - I know you will not regret it.

Dr. Portis was amazing! He explained everything to me thoroughly and helped to ease my fears --you can tell instantly that he's very skilled in his field and knows exactly what he's doing. Painless & quick! I healed perfectly and I have better vision now than I did wearing contacts and glasses. I highly recommend doing the LASIK procedure with him. The best gift I've ever received! Perfect vision.

Truth be told, no matter how many people told me that it would be quick and easy....I was so scared to get Lasik! But, the fact that I now needed both glasses and contacts made me put the fear aside. I was referred to Dr. Portis by a great friend who also happens to be a MD. Dr. Portis took the time to find the precise prescription...it was definitely worth the extra visits. He clearly explained every step of the procedure and the after care. Now a little over a week past Lasik and I could not be happier with my decision. The procedure was all of 15 minutes and honestly didn't hurt at all. All that anxiety was for nothing. If I could change anything, the only thing would be to say that I wish I did it sooner! I am so grateful to have found my new ophthalmologist!

Dr. Portis is an exceptional doctor, he performed LASIK eye surgery not only on me but also on my dad almost a decade ago. My father is actually the one who highly recommended Dr. Portis. Dr. Portis is great because he explains the process of LASIK thoroughly and really makes you feel comfortable with the procedure before moving forward. LASIK is a super-fast surgery in which you feel no pain. The procedure is about 10 minutes and Dr. Portis is always checking in with you, making sure you are doing okay. In my follow up appointments, my eye sight was verified to be 20/15, which I am super happy about! My experience with Dr. Portis from beginning to end has been phenomenal, I highly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about doing LASIK.

We were so impressed with Dr. Portis and his team. We were traveling in Hawaii and my husband had an eye emergency. We were referred to Dr. Portis by the Queen's Hospital emergency room doctors. Dr. Portis was so great to fit us in the very next morning! From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated with kindness. Grace was so nice to us, and she was very patient answering our many questions...an amazing technician. Flo, at the reception desk, was very friendly and put us at ease right away. Dr. Portis was very thorough and explained things well...he really knows his stuff! He did a lot of tests on my husband's eyes, quickly assessed the problem, and came up with a solution. He gave my husband some special eye drops and medicine to use for a few days, and then he fit us in again for a follow-up appointment. It's a busy office, so we really appreciated being fit into the busy schedule...twice! We were so happy that the excellent care helped my husband's eyes and we were able to continue our Hawaiian vacation (with a promise to see our specialist in Canada right away when we returned home!). I would highly recommend Dr. Portis and his team. They are awesome!

Dr. Portis has been my eye doctor for many years and has always provided excellent care. He recommended Lasik surgery to me due to my profession that requires scuba diving and working in a pool, and now that I've had the surgery, my vision is amazing and my aquatic jobs are much easier, especially not having to mess around with contacts anymore- total game changer! My perfect 20/20 vision has remained so for over 2 years now! I highly recommend him as a doctor and eye surgeon.
