Advantage EyeCare -- Charles H. Rutan, O.D.

I had a fantastic experience at Advantage EyeCare in Clinton, IN during my exam yesterday. I was greeted warmly, treated with respect, and taken back right at my appointment time--something I really appreciate. Dr. Rutan was professional, thorough, and took the time to explain everything clearly throughout the exam. It made the whole process comfortable and easy to understand. Overall, an excellent visit from start to finish. Highly recommend Advantage EyeCare to anyone looking for quality eye care and great service

I arrived at the building and started at the reception desk. They helped with paperwork then had me set down. In a very short time they had me following them to each room checking everything . Then next room meet with the doctor and talked did the exam then Went to have pictures of my eyes doctor came in did a different examination then discussed options for my cataracts. It was easy relaxing and informative. I was glad feels good no pressure. If you need to see an eye doctor call him.

Dr Rutan and the staff are amazing. Everyone is thorough, polite, and gets through the appointments at a speedy pace. My only wish is that our glasses could come in faster, but that is not a deal breaker. I definitely recommend them to everyone!

I absolutely love Dr. Rutan. He is the best! I've gone elsewhere before and came back because he is so good! All my family sees him!

Zero stars. My daughter and I have been waiting over 70 minutes past our appointment time. The office is technically closed and we still haven't been seen. People that came in after us have been seen and left already. Currently looking for new eye doctors. I will not recommend Advantage Eye Care to anyone with any sort of schedule or that doesn't like their time wasted.

If I could leave ZERO stars, I absolutely would. This was one of the most unprofessional, disturbing, and traumatic medical encounters my legally blind, mentally disabled 7-year-old son has ever experienced. We were scheduled with Charles H. Rutan for a disability re-evaluation exam. From the moment he walked in, his attitude toward my child was cold, dismissive, and completely inappropriate for someone who claims to work with pediatric or disabled patients. When he greeted my son and my son nervously said "no" out of fear (completely normal for a child in an unfamiliar environment), Charles immediately responded by scolding him and telling him that was an "inappropriate response." Who speaks to a child like that? When my son lightened up and said excitedly, "Raise me up to the sky!" while the chair was lifting, Charles snapped back, "That's not a thing." Zero compassion. Zero effort to comfort or connect. It got worse. While examining my son's eyes, he held his eyelids open for an excessively long time with a bright light. Naturally, my son tried to rub his eyes afterward because they were dry and Charles forcefully grabbed and shoved my son's hands down. Completely unacceptable. Aggressive. Traumatizing. This wasn't just a bad appointment. It was traumatic. My child left shaken and terrified of ever going back. A few days later, without ANY justification, my son's disability benefits were wrongfully terminated because Charles falsely reported that my son's medical condition had "improved." This is factually untrue. His PRIMARY ophthalmologist (whom we see regularly) confirmed that his vision is actually getting WORSE. We had to fight to get another redetermination with a different provider who confirmed what we already knew: my child never should have been taken off disability at all. She said that his disability will be reinstated. This provider should NOT be allowed to evaluate disabled children. The lack of empathy, inappropriate language, physical handling, and inaccurate reporting was beyond unacceptable. Parents, especially of special needs or visually impaired children, please do NOT take your child to Charles H. Rutan. Protect your child from this experience.

I am so grateful to Dr Ratan, his assistant and staff for giving me peace of mind. He was very thorough and gave me an explanation that I completely understood. Kudos to Advantage Eyecare!

Dr Rutan and all of his staff are the best I've ever dealt with. My eyesight has never been that good and Dr Rutan always tries to do the best he can to keep me functioning. I would recommend them to everyone for eyesight issues.
