I was stunned at how rude the receptionist Kathy was - from the moment I called to make an appointment (she just hangs up the phone - no "have a nice day" or even "goodbye, thanks' - nada, just a click). Today I complimented her on something she was wearing and she just stared at me and didn't say a thing! The doctor was wonderful, but the receptionist acted like she had true CONTEMPT for her customers. I took perhaps 30 minutes to pick out glasses that would work for me (I haven't worn glasses in decades). Kathy she acted like I was wasting her time and as if she had somewhere else she needed to be, (she repeatedly checked her watch - 6 times one right after the other, and as we all carry cell phones she was doing it to rudely make a point). She appears to mistreat others in order to somehow feel elevated. She ruined my good mood and my day, and I spent almost $400 for the privilege. She did not thank me even ONCE. For the most part I think society's obsession with social media has had a negative impact on our society, however, it gives each of us a VOICE. I have had more than 25,000 people read my reviews, and I have 3 family members that go to Central Iowa Family EyeCare, or they DID. This person is costing the business customers, and this will continue as long as she works there and is negative and rude. If I didn't need the glasses soon (as I am having eye surgery) I would cancel my order rather than experience misteeatment. This woman needs to move on and find a job that makes her happy, if such a place exists. She needs to change her attitude, read some Emotional Intelligence books or take a Customer Service 101 class (it wouldn't help as she knows how rudely she is treating customers). Kathy's behavior is the antithesis of welcoming, and it speaks volumes about her attitude. Today's bout of rudeness cost them any future business from me, I would rather experience the inconvenience of driving back and forth to Des Moines than be treated the way I was treated (mistreated) today. I only went to their office because this was the ONLY place that took my eye care plan / psedo insurance within a 60 mile radius. Due to the DELIBRATE mistreatment by Kathy I definitely will not be back other than when I pick up my glasses (I plan on handing a copy of this review directly to her to both her and to the doctor the next and final time I "visit" there). After my eye appointment I was too upset to drive immediately home, so I went across the street to the Dollar Store, and it was like night and day; the woman who worked there was happy, polite, and helpful! It is not difficult to be a kind and compassionate human being. At the Dollar store the cashier joked with me, asked about my day, and she THANKED me for my $5 purchase! Imagine that... Dr is 5 stars, 0 for the receptionist, and for her extremely lack of customer "service skills" and her lack of Emotional Intelligence. NO ONE wants to pay to be mistreated! Had to add this PostScript - FYI, I had taken a shower right before I came in, but as I was getting ready to leave, the receptionist pulls out a can of disinfectant and starts spraying it in the air (a LOT of it)!! It was as though she thought I had the plague! This woman did absolutely EVERYTHING she could in an attempt to show she definitely thought I was scum. I am going to attempt to contact the Dr to see if he can do my glasses fitting because personally I never want to see that insulting rude woman again. Either that or they can cancel my very expensive order.

Horrible customer service skills from the receptionist she always is rude when we go in there the dr there is great though just be aware of her being rude when setting up appointments or even honestly for a regular appointment will not be back because of that receptionist!!

Receptionist ruined it for me, will not be coming back.

Dr. Stalder is thorough, talks through options weighing positives and negatives with you. Great care!
