Sunrise Eye Care

My family has been going to Sunrise eye care now for a little over a year I switched for many reasons and I am so happy for the change as they have gone above and beyond for my kids! Today my daughter went in for her first apt to get contacts and she left with them! Because the girls were so amazing and had a lot of patience! Even when we took part of a lunch break they kept saying it's okay! I would recommend them to anyone!

They got me in the same day which I was most happy about. The doctor gave eye drops and told to come back in if they aren't working. So they are not working. I stopped by, they were going to see about getting me in again but unfortunately I had to be out of town. There wasn't going to be a doctor in the office until next Wednesday. There attitude was all well. I am angry, they want to make a another office visit so they can charge my insurance instead of calling the doctor who I just 4 days ago to ask her to change my prescription to something else.

[Edit} I'm leaving the original below, for background. No "billing specialist" ever got back to us. My wife finally got an explanation by calling SEC in Machias directly. The $142 is money that the assistant who charged us somehow assumed would be paid by Medicare. So, he did not tell us the full price of the glasses (and eye exam), $850! Wife would not have bought them if we had straight information. Still, I'm going to assume the guy was careless rather than dishonest, and so adding a star. My wife and bought new eyeglasses 3 weeks ago. They were expensive--$700+ each--but fine, and we like them. Today my wife received another bill for $142! We called (a billing center in Dexter, not the Machias location) and got a lot of verbiage about insurance, even though we knew when we bought the glasses that our insurance does not cover vision. We simply paid what we were told would be the full price. So far, this is seeming like a ripoff. Sunrise Eye Care claims that it will have a billing specialist get back to us, and presumably resolve the issue. If so, I'll revise this review. But for now, this is outrageous.

I have been a patient at Sunrise Eyecare since moving to Down East Maine 12 years ago. Dr. Orcutt and both the Machias and Calais staff are the best. I will not go anywhere else. Thanks all for your expert eye care! Andy Pratt, RN BSN. MSPA Cutler, Maine

They may be good, but don't be late to your appointment. I was ELEVEN (11) minutes late, and they wouldn't see me. I had taken time away from work and driven a good distance - what a waste!

So many cute prescription and non-prescription sunglass options!

Close to home, never had any issues. My entire family goes there now. Beats the trip to Bangor!

The staff is greatans helpful, the doctor is fast and efficient.
