Beware of bait and switch. I called ahead to check that my healthcare plan would cover the cost of my eye exam, which they confirmed. When I arrived, I was scheduled with an optometrist who I later learned was NOT covered by my insurance, and without forewarning. This was not communicated to me prior, during, or after my appointment until I received a bill for the full cost of the exam in the mail. I was told in person during check in that my insurance would cover the visit. In fact, I was told the only part of the visit that would not be covered would be an optional (retinal scan?) exam. I asked to discuss it with the optometrist first. However, during the appointment, the exam was done without discussion and without my knowledge. I did not learn the exam had been administered until I was billed during checkout. I was not billed for any other part of the exam (which made sense at the time because I was told insurance covered it). Furthermore, during checkout I was pressured into perusing their stock of overpriced frames. When I declined, they asked why. After I explained I would prefer to get frames online, they went to the back of the office and complained to a coworker within earshot about "why everyone was buying frames online". I understand that they have a job to do, and I understand healthcare plans are complicated. But the staff at the 1191 Chestnut Street office were unprofessional at best. I would avoid MyEyeDr offices entirely, and seek eye care at your local independent optometrist or academic center instead.

If you want your faith in humanity restored visit the Newton location. They are uncommonly kind and welcoming, even if you are a walk-in. The technicians exceed expectations and offer to adjust all of your glasses. They are laser focused on customer satisfaction and seem genuinely glad to serve you.

Had a great experience at MyEyeDr in Newton upper falls. I recently switched to them from the state street location and had a great initial visit. More recently My daughter smashed my glasses and I needed a quick replacement. The team worked with me to find the best option and went out of their way to actually help save me money, which went a long way for me. I will keep going back !

I don't like to leave reviews but I am very disappointed today. We have seen Dr. Kolnik for many years and he retired since then the practice was bought by myeyedr. Service went downhill quickly. I went to the office to get my daughter's glasses fixed. Gentleman behind the desk as you enter the office to the right side is very kind. However the receptionist behind the counter was so unhelpful. They could not locate my information in the insurance, I went outside to check with HR and confirmed I am in the plan, still could not find me. I am not able to book eye exam appointment for my daughter because of this. Came home, confirmed online that I am indeed enrolled, called again put on hold, was told they could only find me but not my family, put me on hold for another 20 minutes. I had to hang up to take another call, called them back at 4:30pm no one answered, office website says they open till 6pm.

Had a bad experience at the Newton MA location and it isn't the first time over the last few years where my order took at least a month to be delivered. I had a contact lens fitting 3 weeks ago and still haven't received my contacts..I've called the office three times to ask about the status and have never received an answer as to when they are arriving the order appears to be all over the place and it's a mess! They aren't smart people that work there I wouldn't recommend My Eye Dr..I think I am going to look for another place to go to get my eye exams because Dr Steve Kolnik retired and he was great--ever since he left that place has fallen apart. I feel like he made it a good place to go and now I'm not liking my experience anymore. Bad customer service and always messing up my order. They are completely clueless.

I had a great first experience with Dr. Zachwieja. I didn't have to wait since I filled all my documents ahead of time online. She helped give me a much needed new prescription and let me know I have astigmatism. My new contacts were ordered quickly for me and I will definitely be coming back for my next annual exam.

Great experience for both adults and children. Exams are quick but thorough, the doctors give you ample time to discuss concerns, and they're very chill about kids trying on glasses.
