Harvard Square Eye Care

When I walked into an empty office with three staff members present, I was met with poor communication from the start. One staff member in back spoke about rescheduling without making eye contact, which was confusing. When I approached the front desk to check in with the front desk lady, the same staff member told me--abruptly and without courtesy--that I was 15 minutes late and would need to reschedule. I understand policies and being late. What I did not appreciate was the rude, shaming, and dismissive tone. There was no empathy, no professionalism, and no attempt at respectful communication--especially considering the weather conditions and amount of snow outside... It's not easy to get around Somerville. Disgusted I left and return later to address the issue directly with the staff member. At first she was trying to pin it to the front desk lady who was warm and welcoming. I clarified I didn't appreciate the way she talk to me and her tone. While she apologized, the interaction had already left a bad impression. After reading recent reviews, it's clear this is not an isolated issue but a broader customer service problem. Harvard Square Eye Care needs to do better with staff communication and professionalism. It's hard to not feel profiled with the current situation going on around in our country. Unfortunately, this experience has cost them a long-time loyal customer.

Excellent care! Everyone is nice and they make you feel comfortable. The doctor was great and she was very informative. Most importantly, they don't try to sell up, they focus on what you need/prefer.

New to Boston. We needed a new optometrist. I would highly recommend this place.. Very professional and friendly. Had our eyes examined and we received our new glasses within 2 weeks. Extremely satisfied.

The doctor has been incredibly patient in trying to find me the right prescription for multi focal contact lenses, allowing me to take trial pairs home and come back to adjust Rx as necessary. She is also very personable.

I have been going here for a long time and have always had the best care and service. All the staff are knowledgeable, kind and courteous. I saw a couple negative reviews and I have to say, I was in the waiting room and witnessed that patient become belligerent when asked to pay her co-pays. She was so out of order and I couldn't believe her behavior. I personally cannot recommend Harvard Square Eye Care enough!

I was gaslighted and emotionally abused by the manager (Oct 6th), and made to feel like my concerns were invalid. The optometrist then yelled and screamed at me--verbal assaulting me, leaving me feeling humiliated--and the first eye exam was completely mishandled, resulting in the wrong prescription that wasted both my time and money. I am filing complaints with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Optometry and the Attorney General's Office - Consumer Protection Division. Anyone considering this business should proceed with extreme caution.

Was passing by and wanted to look at frames. Woman at the desk asked if she could help when she learnt didn't have a current prescription she was extremely rude and acted like it would be problematic to even look at what the shop had to offer by way of frames. Extremely unprofessional and off putting.

Wonderful customer service! Quickly in and out. All my concerns were listened to and addressed, highly recommend coming here for your check-up (glasses and/or contacts)
