We drive 3.5 hours each way to get our prescription glasses from Sam...the 5th pair as of yesterday. We by the frames we like and get the lens made through Sam. As a master optician, Sam offers the most accurate fittings and great advice on what lens to get depending on what the goal is. We highly recommend Sam especially if you have a more challenging vision situation or even if you just haven't been happy with your experience in general.

My wife stopped in to get a nose guard replaced. Not a major purchase but having a missing guard was super inconvenient. They attended to her right away and treated her as if it was a $1000 purchase. What great service! Top notch

I can't say enough about this fantastic optical shop!!! Dr. Sam is the real deal!!!!! From the minute I called I was treated with kindness and respect. I was able to book an appointment for the same day. Dr. Sam took his time attending to my needs. He answered all my questions and made sure I knew what and why all tests were done. He helped me pick out a few nice frames from his extensive inventory! Dr.Sam was professional, compassionate , dedicated and made my visit wonderful! Do not hesitate to call this asset to Ruidoso.

My son has worn glasses since he was 2 years old and he is 25 now.he has seen a dozen doctors and has had twice as many pairs of glasses and he has never had as thorough and eye exam as he did yesterday at Westlake optical. When he read the eye chart with his existing glasses he could only read line 5 on the eye chart. when the exam was over the doctor had put together the sample of glasses he would be getting ,using different lenses my son could read line 7.it brought tears to my husband and I"s eyes.we live 2 hours away from Ruidoso and it was well worth the trip.

Large selection of frames, but selecting eyewear frames is a personal choice. And whereas I understand the "rules" repeatedly throwing the "rules" about eye position and bridge width at me, and shaking one's head in disapproval, Susan needs to realize that for many people eyewear is about both function AND fashion. I've been selecting stylish frames big and small for decades at high-end vision centers with no-lines and/or progressives so if I like big frames, work with me. If I say I don't like blue frames, don't push small blue frames on me! And when a potential customer asks "what about these" NEVER, EVER say "Well they're better than what you walked in wearing". Seriously? Insults and your high and mighty routine just don't work with me.

The staff is kind and caring. The business is clean and orderly. The selection of men's frames is very limited. The optometrist will also not release your prescription to you until after you have purchased lenses and frames from them.

I was told my glasses would be ready within 10 days but that has gone by and they tell me now it will be another 4 days or more. It has really caused an inconvenience. I would definitely not recommend them in the future.

Wow!! What a kind and caring doctor!! I was on vacation and one of my contacts tore. I went by to see if I could possibly buy a replacement. Dr Johnson was so helpful and accommodating!!!
