Custom Eyecare Newcastle

Stopped in here spur of the moment when my glasses needed a quick repair. They took care of it fast and were very helpful.

After going to an opthamoligist in Charlestown for a potential lense insert, and told I wasn't a good candidate due to fuchs, scarring and astigmatisms, i was referred for the potential of sclerical lenses. I booked and attended. Unbeknown to me, I signed an agreement beyond sclerical lenses. The agreement took me from sclericals, down to hard and piggy back soft lenses i have tried custom made hard lenses and soft lenses before. I didn't want to try - especially soft lenses under hard lenses when I have fuchs. Fuchs is when the cornea struggles processing oxygen. The last thing my eyes need is two layers over my eyes. Rather than reading my eye history (fuchs, astigmatism,a failed history of trying soft and custom-made hard contacts) they dragged me through their business agreement which costed me three attendances and travel on each occasion from South West Rocks, which is about four hours' drive away. After bailing out before the end of their contract, the process costed me approximately 2500. It could have been done with a single wear of the sclericals (which was identified by the owner of the business at that time) but they took it further, Apoarently for business purposes. I called my ophthalmologist to complain and spoke to the receptionist who said her husband went through a similar shitty process. And that was the end of it. Which made me wonder whether the ophthalmologist has some sort of interest in this place. Wouldn't he not recommend this establishment otherwise?

Yesterday I rushed into Custom Eyecare on Darby Street with a broken pair of glasses. In less than 10 minutes I was walking out with them perfectly fixed. That's not unusual but I hadn't bought the glasses there and I was not one of their customers. Being gifted the repairs was unusual. It showed great customer service and a sincere interest in supporting their community. As a profiler I'm not easily swayed, but they won me. Great service and great smiles

I was recommended to go to Custom Eyecare by a friend and I could not be happier with the service. I suffer from keratoconus and had been really struggling with my vision and the glasses I had previously been prescribed by another eye care service were not very good. Since my consultation and new glasses prescription from Custom Eyecare I can see well again and I am not suffering from eye strain anymore. Very happy :)

Heidi and Dom are absolutely fantastic optometrists. I like to sit in with fellow optometrists every now and then as I find we can learn from each other. I made a trip up from Sydney to Newcastle a couple of years ago, and sat in with both Heidi and Dom for half a day. As a fellow optometrist, I was very impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, and especially the way that they absolutely truly care about each and every patient which aligns very much with what I believe optometry should be. It makes me very proud to be part of a profession that delivers such excellent patient care. Thank you for having me, and I would recommend any patient to your practice, any day.

I'd heard so many horror stories about multifocals! However, Heidi's thorough assessment of my eyes and the demands of my job, made the transition back from 25 years of wearing contact lenses full-time, to glasses with Multifocal lenses, absolutely seamless!!! 3 years on and 3 different pairs of glasses and I'm just as thrilled about my visual acuity and comfort, as I was upon my first visit! Dom and his team of excellent Optical dispensers are wonderful. I booked my eye test with Dom and it was the best I had in my whole life. Dom and his team were very professional.
