I experienced sudden vision loss (everything went black) immediately after the ophthalmologist administered numbing eye drops for the exam.
I have never experienced this before, and I have received numbing eye drops for eye pressure testing and other routine exams at multiple other practices without any issue.
This frightening event was dismissed as anxiety without any assessment, despite medical literature describing vasovagal reactions and fainting as a known occurrence during eye examinations, including after the instillation of drops.
It was concerning that this possibility was not recognized and instead attributed to me personally. A different ophthalmologist later explained that such reactions are a recognized phenomenon during eye exams and not simply anxiety.
I was uncomfortable having my firsthand medical experience invalidated and attributed to anxiety despite my clear explanation otherwise.
There was also no reassurance, support, or attempt to provide comfort during the event.

Was away from home for vacation when I had an eye emergency the day before a holiday. ZiekerEye answered the phone and got me in an hour later. For other practices I called, I had to leave a message and while I got prompt call backs, the number I was given for the "doctor on call" led me to another practice that did not actually have a doctor available. When I got to ZiekerEye, the staff was all very friendly and helpful and the doctor was kind and knowledgeable. I wish I lived nearby as I would definitely return to this practice for any eye related medical needs.

Truly exceptional!!! I brought my 4 year old son in after he had gotten something in his eye and was unable to open it. We were able to be seen quickly, after normal business hours. Steven Clark was so kind, caring, and quickly was able to discover the problem and treat it. This was my sons very first visit to an eye doctor which can be scary for a young child but he was so gentle and made us both so comfortable. He was feeling better in just a couple minutes and able to open his eye again! My son can't stop talking about his visit to the eye doctor! Would definitely recommend.
