Summit Eye Care P.A.

Very friendly staff, and beautiful, clean interior. I originally left a 3 star review, based on some miscommunication/misunderstandings. The office manager reached out to me to clarify and resolve the issues I had. I'm updating my review to 5 stars because it's very apparent that this place actually cares about their customers, and strives to provide perfect service. If you have a problem, they will fix it. When I came in for my contact lens exam, I complained about how uncomfortable my current prescription was, (given to me by another doctor) and I was assured that I could try out as many different brands of contacts as needed until I found the perfect fit. The first pair they gave me to try turned out to be perfect! I couldn't be happier with how comfortable they are. Even though I had to do some unexpected testing during my visit, the staff did a great job of making me comfortable and easing any nerves I had.

I'm only giving two stars because my experience last year after transitioning to a different doctor went very well. However, they informed me that my appointment two weeks from now needs to be rescheduled because the doctor I had is no longer there. They also told me they can't do Mondays. This is super inconvenient as I work the rest of the week and schedule my clients by appointmentsas well. I was still willing to alter my schedule in order to get my appointment closer to my old one that I have had scheduled for a year now. Nope, they told me they didn't have anything until the end up July. This is unacceptable and I won't be back.

If you would have asked me over two years ago I would have said that Summit was a great place but now that's a different story. My first follow up appointment after my Lasik eye surgery. The doctors didn't realize I was a previous patient. No one ever looked at my chat until I said no I've wore glasses since I was eight and that I was here to follow up after surgery. Appointments have now become a problem, my children's appointments have been cancelled and or changed countless times due to not having doctors or doctors not taking certain insurances.

I have United Health Care Insurance and went to Mocksville store to look at frames. I wanted an estimate on my part of a pair of glasses. First I found no plastic frames that I like because of their small inventory. I decided that if insurance was taken there I would look anyway. The frames are outrageous in price!! They don't want people with limited budget or plain taste because they don't want to serve us real country people! I asked for some help pricing on some frames I found that I would have to settle for. The lady at the desk told the other lady to push a button to let someone know I needed help. 25 minutes later NOBODY CAME TO HELP. Oh yeah, I have tattoos!! All of them being for lost family. But I wasn't wanted in there. Called from my car and told Kim at the desk what happened. I said I won't be back!! She said OK.

I saw Dr. Laymon up until his untimely retirement and then his practice merged with Summit. I have been to this practice twice and both times did not have a good experience. I was told both times that my insurance didn't cover my contact lens exam and my policy clearly states that it does. I called to speak with billing about correcting the issue multiple times and was never able to get in touch with them, and the issue was never corrected. The second visit the front desk associate was rude when she said "You know your policy doesn't cover the lens exam" and I know it does. I've had the same insurance for 6 years and never had any issues with it when it was Dr. Laymon's practice. Dr. Watt (I don't believe she is still with the practice now) was not personable and did not seem like she genuinely cared about any concern you may have, just wanted to rush you out as quickly as possible. I was told at the end of my appointment to meet with the optician to discuss either keeping my current frames and clean/adjust or to upgrade, and no one ever came to talk to me, except to give me some trial contact lenses because they didn't have my prescription in stock. Ironically, my yearly exam was also coincidentally cancelled today after I had chimed in on a group discussion about the terrible experience I've had with them on Facebook, among many other people that have had similar experiences. No harm, no foul since I had no intention of attending the appointment anyway, I just found the timing to be ironic. Overall, this practice has tanked since Dr. Laymon had to leave. I will not be returning or recommending this practice to anyone I know.

Decent place. Appointments could go a bit faster. I like them because they're close to home and fully covered by insurance. Sometimes when I mention a problem, it does not get addressed and my prescription remains unchanged despite comfort issues.

Today I had the opportunity to be the first patient to use the Spark 4 . It made a lens design that was made just for me. It was an amazing experience to see how far eye technology in the medical field has come!! I hope that more people will use Summit Eye Care and enjoy this service as well. Thank you for always taking such great care of my needs!!!

First time today. Was a little unsure changing providers but great service from start to finish. Our wait was short. Never felt rushed and all staff was kind, knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend Summit Eye.
