In December, I scheduled online vision exams for myself and my two children in nearly consecutive slots, planning for a single, efficient visit. This was essential due to limited nearby options for quality vision care and the challenges of coordinating multiple trips with work and family schedules. Last week--a month after booking online--the office called to inform me of their policy restricting services to no more than two family members per day. This restriction forces us into separate visits, adding significant logistical and financial burdens (extra travel, potential lost time from work, childcare, etc.), especially in a community where many families face low income and limited PTO/flexibility. I understand operational policies are sometimes necessary, but notifying customers of such a rule only after months have passed and right before the appointments feels unfair and poorly communicated. It overlooks the family-oriented needs of the area served and treats patients more as isolated "customers" than as families seeking essential care. The staff I spoke with were polite, but the policy itself is rigid and burdensome for working families. I've seen similar complaints about this type of limit at other optometry practices, suggesting it's not uncommon--but that doesn't make it any less frustrating when it disrupts long-planned care. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to cancel and reschedule with a competitor in Geneva, who stated they could get all three of us in at the same time. I hope management reviews this policy (or at least improves upfront disclosure during online booking) to better support community families. 2/5 stars: Deducted primarily for the policy's impact and the delayed notification.

I've been going here for many years ! I wouldn't go anywhere else. I like having a female eye Dr !! And the staff has been all female also . Everyone is friendly , polite and so willing to be as helpful as possible!! They take their time with you also .. no rushing at all ! I most definitely recommend them !

Been a patient for over 10 years called today and no appointments til may. Told them I need contacts her reply was pretty much too bad. Never I repeat will never go back. Id put a zero if I could.

I wish I should do 10 stars plus .I can say everyone was absolutely fantastic ...I highly recommend going here to get your eyes checked ..

My first experience of this place is just the secretary hollie being rude for no reason. I get having a bad day but if someone is nothing but nice to you maybe erm be nice back, what a thought ! I provided my insurance name, member ID, plan type and group number either via appointment booking or her annoyed questioning and she was asking for more, i was of course confused and trying to figure it out for her which obviously means be rude . perfect 5 star shawnee experience

Have used Shawnee for years, they have a policy only 2 family members can be seen per day. We really like Dr Locy but their "policies" are not conducive to families. I can not take multiple days off work for eye dr appointments. Sadly will not go back.

My glasses and my test was bad. They did not use my Medicaid medicare I was charged for exam and glasses were not made properly. The bifocals are not strong enough. I feel they scam people into thinking they are using the Medicare and Medicaid Insurances. I can't read a book. Cause bifocals are useless. I paid over 600.00 for junk

The staff was polite and helpful. My glasses were in and I didn't receive the text message they sent. Wouldn't you call after I didn't respond to the text messages. I finally called and they were ready to be picked up several weeks ago. Again would have loved a phone call.
