Dr. James Volk Optometrist

Would give zero if possible. Zero professionalism. Claimed both my husband and I were borderline for glaucoma for years, needing us to be tested frequently. Realizing our newest pairs of glasses weren't really helping us, we went to other Drs. New Dr saw I had put high pressure on my paperwork, he asked if 'Dr. Volk' was the one that diagnosed me. I was shocked, since I didn't have his name on form. He said he tells nearly all his patients that. I don't have high pressure AT ALL. My prescription was so off it was as if it was for someone else. My husband traveled out of state for his exam, he didn't have high pressure, either. But was told he is legally blind in one eye. Nothing Volk had ever addressed, verbally or prescription wise. We can actually SEE for first time in a decade. Volk takes Medicaid, I believe he practices in volume rather than Optometry. Even as a cash paying patient, I feel I was treated as if he was doing a favor at a free clinic for homeless people that are giving charity glasses that are just 'good enough'. While retesting eye pressure to make more money.

Haven't been to him in years up until the other day. Very helpful and quick. And didn't just prescribe me glasses for the money aspect in the Doctor world nowadays but prescribed them because I need them. Really hit the nail on the head that I can't see far away or well in the night while driving. The staff was very friendly as well and good atmosphere. Recommend!

I called 7 days prior to my appointment to set it up. When I got there and checked in I had to wait for an hour and 20 minutes because they "couldn't figure out my coverage". Really they spent the majority of the time show each other pictures of sharks and talking about their vacations. After 80 minutes of waiting I was told that I actually only have a discount... which isn't correct because I pay for eye coverage through my primary insurance. Needless to say I got up and left before I became a "Karen". I would not recommend this optometrist to ANYONE in any of their locations!

Very disturbing! I don't like to post negative about people but this guy almost got these hands across his face. He tried to pick a fight with me. Why? I don't know. I was trying to explain the signs that I couldn't see on the road at certain distances. Apparently he didn't want to hear it and told me to be quiet. Then he just came out and said shut up . At this point we both knew the appointment was over. As I was at the doorway, this dude stopped and turned around and stuck his chest out like he was going to do something. Crazy and unprofessional!

I felt he was very impersonal and didn't look at you when talking didn't take any interest in you like former Dr and also Interrupted husband while he was explaining things. I would not recommend. And we r goin to return to former Dr.

Zero stars. The entire staff including the "doctor" is miserable. They hate their jobs and they hate you for walking through their door. Go somewhere else. How is this guy still in business?
