Seems like they could be better on communication. I have noticed that there's always little fees here and there that aren't discussed. Had my annual exam that they scheduled on their own but didn't know I wasn't able to purchase my year of contacts at that time. Nobody advised me that it was too soon so I left Confused and when I called the billing after receiving a $45 bill for choosing contacts the department lady told me that next time I can call my insurance to know when I can purchase my contacts in my mind, I figured it was kind of just a service that an eye doctor would provide just a little communication, letting their patients know that at this time they can't renew their contact prescription but in a month you can. I would of just rescheduled my exam to reflect when I could purchase my contacts.
They're alright. Place is a bit sterile feeling. Some of the assistants dont make eye contact. The Dr is pretty good and friendly. They do help and spend extra time making sure you try to understand what is happening and the billing part. Getting contacts is a pain in the butt, whenever I did feel like I had an infection, the Dr was very supportive and had me come in pretty fast. He checked and explained the possibilities of eye discharge with contacts. He also asked me how it was going when I had my next appointment months later. I dont know what it is if it's the environment there but it feels cold and robotic. Im just happy they have taken care of my needs.
Very disappointed with our experience at Family Eye Center in Ontario Oregon.
We came in with valid prescriptions for my daughters and only needed their facial measurements to order glasses. We were told they would not measure them unless we bought the glasses there. I would have been totally fine paying for an eye exam or a measurement service, but being forced to purchase glasses just to get a basic measurement felt unreasonable.
We ended up buying two pairs anyway -- over $700 total -- and when they came in, the lenses were put into the wrong frames and mixed up between my daughters. After they fixed it, they treated it as a simple repair (even though it was their mistake) and did not include the usual cases/accessories that come with a new purchase.
For the price and the errors, the customer service and quality control just weren't there. I wouldn't recommend.
I went to Family Eye Center for over 10 years, and it just took one seriously bad experience to change my loyalty to their company. This is my story....
My insurance wouldn't cover my contacts order yet, just the visit, so I went and figured I can pay over the phone; no biggie. I wasn't aware you couldn't process Care Credit over the phone. So I tried to pay using the online portal. Family Eye Center NEVER had this turned on, so they never got my payment, and never ordered my contacts. 2 weeks later I call to figure out what is going on, only to learn the technician "forgot" and whilst the head technician, Brittany, claimed there was no excuse, they seemed to make an awful lot of excuses; repeatedly stating things like "She just forgot". I don't think I even got an apology for this issue.
The head technican, I came to find was the "Care Credit subject matter expert" but the head technician ALSO claimed "We didn't know it wasn't activated, that isn't our fault." when it LITERALLY IS their fault, and specifically even her fault. Yet deny and avoid accountability was all they could do. After speaking with the manager, Alyssa, and playing tag between Care Credit support and Family Eye Center, TWO MONTHS LATER I finally got my contacts ordered, barely before I ran out. I was offered contacts until I was able to receive my contacts; which was only after I started to yell and scream and freak out about the situation. They did the BARE MINIMUM to resolve the situation. Nothing for all of the time, stress, and utter BS I had to deal with, because they didn't have their damned online portal on; which is a requirement of working with Care Credit mind you.....
Worse yet, before all this billing mess, when I was in for my normal eye exam, I mentioned an issue I was having to Dr. Judsen, and instead of doing his job and looking to determine the course of action; he just asked if it was still occurring. When I shrugged and said "I dunno, I don't think so." He thanked me for coming in and left. Even if it required another appointment and/or separate billing, he didn't even bother to care enough to just look. Turns out both eyelids have been infected for some time, with internal stye and chalizion formations.
Today I learned that my optomitrist that I thought cared, Dr. Judsen, is the Owner..... here I thought he was just being pressured to go faster from patient to patient from his boss, but he IS the boss..... WOW! I have 0 words to express how disappointing this is.
From basic technician all the way up to the Doctor/Owner of this establishment have let me down (Alyssa being the only exception). I cannot trust them to care for me or my needs anymore. I hope your lack of patience, understanding, empathy, professionalism, subject knowledge expertise, and general compassion is reversed, and you go back to practicing how you use to. I use to drive from Nampa just to depend on your service. Thanks for saving me the gas money in the future I guess.....
Great experience! I got a piece of metal in my eye and was referred by a friend to Family Eye Center. They got me in quickly, we're friendly and professional, and remove metal And some rust from my eye without any pain. It was so much better than I was expecting my regular health insurance covered all by the copay. Great experience!
Been going here for years and now my kids are too! I always get great service. Never had had a problem. Ladies in front are always so sweet.
The front staff, nurses and eye dr were exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. I've recently gotten eye floaters and was concerned. The Dr reassured me that it was quite normal after all of his extensive testing. I'm really pleased. I will be a long standing patient. Thank to all.
Very nice place. Check in person at front is very kind, helpful and patient. Many choices of eye glasses. They are taking very good care of my friend.
