We are so happy to have found the Altavista location of Harman Eye Center. The staff were attentive. The office was clean and well appointed. We had some issues with a previous eye exam at a different office and Dr. Pierce took the time to listen and work through correcting a previous rx. They were knowledgeable about our insurance and suggested eyeglass options to meet our work/leisure needs. Highly recommend!

Do not hesitate to go see Dr. Jessie Pierce. Her bedside manner puts you immediately at ease. She explains everything clearly and takes her time so that you don't feel rushed through. Plus, all of her staff are wonderful as well. If there were more than 5 stars to give, I'd give them! Side note: Her operatory is decorated with adorable photos which will make you smile if you love animals.

Seriously, the best experience I've had in a very long time! We are new to the Altavista area and even though I was a brand new patient, I was able to see Dr. Pierce the very next day.
Dr. Pierce was AWESOME and very personable! She took her time, answered all of my questions, and explained in great detail what the issue was and what to expect or look for in the future.
If you are in need of an ophthalmologist, Dr. Pierce will not disappoint!

I was given an appointment for the end of the week. I checked and asked if the appointment was for this week and expressed surprise at getting in so quickly. When we arrived, the receptionist said, "Do you need something?"in a tone that communicated we shouldn't be there and we were bothering her. There were 2 other people in the waiting area. When I told her that my daughter had an appointment, she shook her head and rudely and shortly said, "No." She then asked for the DOB, and I gave it. She informed me that the appointment was for March. Her tone and facial expression was nothing but superior and snooty. I canceled the appointment and we will not be back.

Excellent Doctor, Disappointing Staff Experience:
The Doctor was outstanding. They were very nice, personable, and professional during the exam. I felt like I received good care, they were informative and I appreciated their positive demeanor.
However, the experience with the rest of the staff was subpar. The woman at the front desk seemed annoyed by my questions and answered me in a rude manner. The other staff I interacted with were not rude, but they were completely unfriendly--no smiles, no introductions, and generally just seemed to be going through the motions.
The quality of the doctor's care is 5-stars, but the unprofessionalism and lack of basic customer service from the support staff detracted from the visit.
