Picked up my glasses and they pulled that -we have to charge you 3% using a credit card BS. Total BS if you ask me. Next year I won't be back. I like an honest store that doesn't try to get me in bogus fees
Today I arrived at my eye appointment at 12 minutes past the hour. I was informed by the staff at the reception window that I would have to reschedule, because I was two minutes late for their unpublished 10 minute late arrival cut off policy. How?
Where I can appreciate the need for policies, as a customer it hardly seems reasonable for those policies to be unpublished. when I recommended publication of such time, sensitive policies, my request was met with resistance, due to "the character limit for our individual text messages." Okay, so, send a separate text message if it's that important for your customer base to know.
Couple that with the fact that 18 months ago when I had my eyes examined here, and ordered new eyeglasses from here, I ended up spending months chasing down those eyeglasses through phone calls, hold times, "we'll get back to you's," and the like. A first world problem, perhaps, but genuinely aggravating.
So, customer service issues aren't unknown entities here. I will give the area manager credit for attempting to resolve the issue, but it was after weeks of aggravation and frankly never should've happened.
I respect the providers time and the staff time, and I accept accountability for showing up at my appointments on time rather than late.
However with other eye care options out on Kitsap and beyond for patients and consumers, I would recommend looking elsewhere before trying this establishment.
As for me, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
Just my lived experience.
Best optometry experience I've ever had. Would recommend this company to anyone. I was treated with kindness and respect from every single human being, even including the person who booked my appointment. They are dutiful with sanitizing and health guidelines and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. I recently changed my vision insurance and they even took the time to sit down with me and explain my coverage in great detail. Can't say enough good things about my experience and the people who work here.
Not the best place when it comes to billing and fees. I have had the worst service and pt. care in regards to pt. accounts. They truly need to work on their billing department and communications. The Dr. there is nice that is why I gave 1 star. This is not a place to trust, they mess up all the time and are unfair when it come to resolving the issues. I thought my account was paid in full at the time of service and was told my account was up to date but got a bill 3 months later? When I called to ask about the bill they said the amount was incorrect even on the statement and would adjust the account to what is due. So you are going to send me a bill and still not have to correct amount? I do not recommend this place.
I recently went to Kingston Vision Center to get new glasses. I had heard good things about them, but my visit turned out to be very disappointing and frustrating.
When I got there, I expected to get all the measurements I needed for my new glasses, including something called "pupillary distance" (PD). However, they told me I wouldn't get my PD measurement unless I made another appointment and paid an extra $40.
This was surprising and seemed unfair. Normally, when you're getting new glasses, they should include measuring your PD as part of the process. Charging extra for it felt like they were trying to squeeze more money out of customers, and that's not right.
I called them to ask about this policy, but they didn't seem to care about my concerns. They defended their decision without trying to find a solution or be more understanding.
As a customer, I believe businesses should be honest, fair, and provide good service. Kingston Vision Center's policy of charging extra for a basic measurement like pupillary distance feels like they're not looking out for their customers.
I want to warn others who might consider going to Kingston Vision Center. You should be aware of this policy and the extra costs it might involve. My experience left me feeling disappointed, and I'll be looking for other places to get my glasses in the future. Businesses should always prioritize making customers happy, but unfortunately, Kingston Vision Center didn't do that.
I have experienced some of the worst medical service of my life at this clinic.
Quality of care depends upon the doctor. Dr. McGown is excellent. The other guy in the Hawaiian shirt gave me some bad advice and I had to pay for two appointments based on having to come back to see my regular doctor - not right or fair - and very expensive - an extra appointment plus time off work.
But what really makes this place totally unacceptable is the administrative staff. I'm not sure whether they just have incredible turnover, low-quality employees, or a combination of both. But EVERY encounter with them turns into an ordeal straight out of an episode of the Three Stooges, requiring multiple trips, miscommunications, last-minute cancellations, and other extraordinarily unprofessional antics.
I have had billing issues, problems picking up contacts, problems getting glasses. Each time, because of mistakes or lack of due diligence on the part of the staff, I had to return multiple times to straighten things out. if you figure that every time I have to go there unecessarily, it costs me 2 to 4 hours of my time and usually a half a day of work, that is pretty damn expensive and unreasonable. Literally all of my last three interactions with this office have cost me 10 to 12 hours of my time each. UNNACEPPTABLE!
Even worse, some of the staff have been extraordinarily flippant about their incompetence and they cost to me. From the other reviews on here, I can see mine is no isolated incident.
Dr. McGown, I very much like you, but I can't afford to absorb the costs of your staff's negligence anymore - just as I am sure you would not as a businessman. I tried to do you the courtesy of talking to you directly before I wrote this review, but your staff never followed through with the messages I left for you to call me.
Save yourself grief and time, and find a better office.
I have been a patient at Kingston Vision Center for the last four years. I've had pleasant experiences with all staff members. However, I called in this morning with a concern regarding my eye--while it wasn't incredibly urgent I wanted to double check, just to be sure. At my last visit, I was told to call in at any time if I should have a concern. After sharing my concern with the receptionist, I was told "there are not even any doctors in today and we are very booked." She also made me feel embarrassed and as though my concerns were invalid. She then told me to go to urgent care because she didn't think my concern had anything to do with my eye. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
I encourage you to ignore these negative reviews. Just went in for an assessment/prescription as it's local and their phone staff was extremely helpful. The whole experience was magical. Very veteran friendly. No predatory pricing. Speedy service and lots of classic Kingston TLC. Solid operation. Thank you! Will be back, for sure
