I had a pathetic experience at Disha Eye Clinic, Asansol, which was incredibly disappointing considering the high standards I had come to expect from their Barrackpore and Durgapur branches. There was no crowd management, and a clear shortage of doctors compared to the number of patients. Even though I live just next to the clinic, I wasn’t allowed to take an appointment 30 minutes in advance when I explained that my father—the patient—was just downstairs and would arrive within 5 minutes. I was told the patient must be present immediately to confirm the visit. As a result, I had to leave the queue and join all over again once he came. The visit dragged on for over 3.5 hours, and to top it off, the prescribed medicines were unavailable at their own pharmacy. The staff at the reporting desk were rude and unhelpful. When I raised my concerns to a reporting office staff member, I was told, “It’s not in my hands, you’ll have to raise this with our headquarters.” If that’s the case, it really begs the question—what is the point of having a reporting office at Asansol at all? Overall, this visit was extremely frustrating and deeply unsatisfactory, especially from a clinic under the DISHA name, which is otherwise known for its professionalism and patient care.

Very professional staff and good doctors. I had the cataract operation of my mother and total procedure got completed within 3 hours.

It's comparatively smaller and the attendants are not well trained in dealing with the patients. 😒 The attendant never asked us for the OPD sheet, which is systematically asked by Durgapur centre staff. We got delayed for no good reason.

Doctors especially senior citizen should get preference which is not provided. Yes emergency cases are to be dealt with top most priority. The first come first serve is good system. But everywhere doctors should get preference. See other professionals

Review of Disha Eye Hospital, Asansol I recently had a deeply disappointing experience at Disha Eye Hospital in Asansol. While I had heard positive things about the hospital's medical care, the behavior and professionalism of the staff were shockingly below standard. First and foremost, the hospital staff, particularly the nurses, displayed a frustrating level of carelessness and indifference. Instead of assisting and guiding patients and their families, many acted as if they were more knowledgeable than the doctors themselves. Their presumptuous attitude not only misled us on several occasions but also created unnecessary confusion and stress. It often felt like they believed the world revolved around them, showing no empathy towards the patients’ needs or concerns. Moreover, the overall hospitality was appalling. The healthcare staff lacked basic professionalism and courtesy, traits that are vital in any medical facility. Their dismissive approach and refusal to listen carefully to patient queries made the experience feel cold and transactional rather than the compassionate care one expects from a healthcare institution. Disha Eye Hospital might have decent medical services, but they seriously need to address the unprofessional and arrogant behavior of their support staff. A hospital is more than just its doctors – it’s also about the team that ensures the patients feel safe, cared for, and respected, and unfortunately, this hospital falls drastically short in that regard. Until significant improvements are made in their staff's attitude and professionalism, I would hesitate to recommend Disha Eye Hospital, Asansol. My patient was misguided by these staffs before going for cataract surgery, they didn't told us how to use eye drops, which they denied, even ask to sign on High risk OT form, means denied of taking responsibilities of patient for mere heart issue which is normal not as big as they told us, I decided to postpone OT and will never visit this "Sahebi" attitude staffs any more. There are many better eye hospitals in Asansol, Durgapur, you may visit them, but not this one Asansol Disha Eye hospital, atleast not before management replace them with better ones.

They literally cheat you. You pay for eye test but they dont provide you with the full prescription, where as they force you to buy spectacle from there counter only, that's why they told you to collect the power prescription from spectacle counter. Why I have to collect it from there. How unprofessional and unethical business strategy is this? This is a very shameful business trick doing by the organisation. You guys literally pulling down the goodwill and reputation of Disha which they earned over the years.

Good evening.I am one of the seniormost physicians in Asansol, being here since 1985.I was having a bit of problem in my right eye and went to Disha Eye hospital Asansol this morning for the first time.I wished to consult Dr Padmawati Bhattacharya MS FICO (UK).What struck me on entry is that all the staff were very patient, kind and helpful. They Care and listen to your problem. The whole process is streamlined and I went to different experts for a few check ups before going to Madam. They listened to me patiently and conducted the examination as per their protocol very patiently and with full expertise in a lot of modern machines. They took care to take me to Dr Padmawati Bhattacharya. She was very patient and took lot of time to listen to my history, which I rarely see nowadays. She examined me in detail and reassured me and gave me some simple eye drops.I entered quite apprehensive. And left with great relief. In my 40 years as a Physician,I was touched deeply again that medical ethics is not lost nowadays .This centre like all Disha Eye hospitals across W Bengal has all the facilities and the latest equipment and excellent people and service. It is spotless and very well organised. We are lucky in Asansol to have this set up where all eye problems can be diagnosed and treated by experts in the field. Thanks a lot Disha Asansol and madam,Dr Padmawati Bhattacharya with your dedicated and excellent team.May God bless All of you Always Dr Manas Banerjee MD(Medicine)Jipmer Pondicherry FRCP FICP FIAE FCSI ex Sr Dy Director Cardiology and in charge CCU Burnpur Hospital SAIL.
