Multi focal lenses caused diminished vision We recently visited this eye hospital for cataract surgery for my 61-year-old mother. Initially, our experience was positive. The receptionist was welcoming, the doctor provided thorough explanations about the different lens options, and the nurses assured us that recovery would take 2-3 days if we chose certain options. Despite the higher cost, we opted for the multifocal lenses recommended by the doctor, aiming for the best outcome. The surgery was reported as successful by the doctor, but we were then informed that recovery would take about a week, which differed from the initial 2-3 days estimate. This discrepancy was minor, and we accepted it. However, complications arose a week after the surgery. My mother started having difficulty seeing, and subsequent check-ups indicated everything was fine, but the issues persisted. After two months and further consultations, we were told there might be a nerve issue or diabetic retinopathy, which led us to see a nerve surgeon. The surgeon confirmed there were no nerve issues or diabetic retinopathy and that the surgery was technically fine, but the multifocal lenses were unsuitable for my mother. As a result, my mother now struggles with both near and far vision in one eye. We were informed that removing the lenses involves significant complications. Coming from a non-medical background, we relied heavily on the hospital's advice and now face the consequences of this decision. The hospital maintains that the surgery was performed correctly, placing the responsibility on us for the choice of lenses. We hope our experience serves as a cautionary tale for others. It's crucial to seek multiple consultations and thoroughly research before proceeding with cataract surgery and lens choices. Do not solely rely on the advice given by a single source. On a slightly positive note, there's a small chance the lenses may adjust over time, but this is uncertain. We've spent more than 70,000 and are left with diminished vision, hoping for a better outcome in the future.
