“I had a very disappointing experience at Dr. VK Taneja’s clinic. Despite having an appointment at 4:30, my mother and I waited over an hour, only to be told by the doctor that he wouldn’t see us. Traveling 100 km from Katni for this appointment, we expected professionalism and respect, which were clearly lacking. The doctor and staff were dismissive and unhelpful. I wouldn’t recommend this clinic to anyone seeking compassionate care.”

I am writing this as the daughter of a 70+ year-old patient who has suffered from stroke, joint pain, and liver issues. We recently visited Anant Hospital, Jabalpur, trusting our previous experience with Dr. B.K. Pansey. Unfortunately, this time the experience was extremely disappointing. The doctor, who had once treated my mother and knew her condition well, spoke very rudely and unprofessionally to my brother. It was unexpected and disheartening. My mother, being calm and forgiving by nature, said “let it go,” but I truly believe such behavior should not be ignored. No patient or their family deserves to be treated with such disrespect, especially in a hospital setting where empathy and professionalism should be a priority. Another serious concern was the condition of the hospital canteen. We found a rubber band in the dal served with the veg thali. Imagine if my mother had eaten that—it could have caused serious harm. The wash basin in the canteen was clogged, dirty, leaking, and used by staff to wash their personal tiffins. There was no clean space to sit and eat, which is shocking in a healthcare environment. We also faced a lack of basic courtesy from the staff. While waiting for a CT scan for over 30-40 minutes, only four chairs were available. Two staff girls were sitting on them and didn’t offer their seats to us, even after noticing my elderly mother sitting on the floor. A male staff member saw us, kept talking on his phone, and did nothing. A senior staff woman also looked at us and walked away without saying a word. There was no sense of responsibility, empathy, or professionalism. Even a few staff members overheard us expressing our disappointment, and we clearly mentioned we would write about this on Google. Yet no one stepped forward to help or apologize. As someone who deeply cares for my mother and as a voice for other patients who might not speak up, I feel it’s important to share this. Hospitals are meant to be safe, respectful, and clean environments—not places where patients are neglected or mistreated.
