Definitely not the place to be recommended to someone... I got my eye operated for cataract and that was a failure. Then the glasses were given with some values which is totally irrelevant and we were to take other eye care support for the cataract surgery issue and the glasses value.

I definitely do not recommend this clinic after our recent experience. My dad was consulting Dr Karthik for a long time and in April 2024, for eye pain. He wanted to be sure before leaving to Australia to be with me for nearly 10 months. Few days back he developed severe eye pain and i took him to an eye specialist here in Melbourne. We were shocked to note that his eye pressure was high and more than that this clinic failed to diagnose that he had Glaucoma in both eyes and his left eye has lost vision completely. Doctors here are astonished on how this Indian doctor failed to notice this and no preventative measures were taken. They did complete testing and recommended to go to a good professional ophthalmologist in India to save his vision in right eye at-least. Pathetic care and i feel for everyone going to this clinic based on past reputation from Karthik’s dad! We are shocked beyond words and all Dr Karthik did was to prescribe a pressure reducer drops and didnt have the time or expertise to diagnose what was wrong in his eyes. He doesn't have the patience to properly examine and most of the tests are done by people around him ( god only knows how qualified they are!) . He just views the reports and takes decisions based on that i guess. I have all detailed eye scan reports today from doctors here and they clearly said this due to months and years of degradation which Karthik has failed to diagnose. Dr Karthik has not explained anything to my dad and if we had known we could have taken action 10 months back. They are all money minded people who want to spend as little time with a patient so that he can see others to make money and make them buy medicine from their pharmacy, etc.. Avoid at all costs and I am considering other options knowing well nothing can be done in India against these so called hospital businesses! Update- The clinic has noted that Glaucoma was diagnosed and informed to my 78 year old dad, but the truth of the matter is it was not at all mentioned even once clearly that he had Glaucoma. The clinic only informed that he was treated for high eye pressure. In response to my review, the doctor called and said that high eye pressure means glaucoma! How on earth as a layman can we understand that high eye pressure indicates glaucoma when it is not clearly conveyed. The term “glaucoma“ was never mentioned and this confirms the huge communication problem with patients especially old people when they come to see you. Now you are mentioning that intraocular pressure was well under control due to the treatment given. Again this is completely untrue. We fail to understand how 30mm hg pressure is normal. This is what you noted in the small paper you gave to my dad. Is the reading of 30 as noted by you normal? Seriously? The normal range is 17-21 as confirmed by doctors here in Australia and iam sure that is worldwide range. I think its important for you to clearly diagnose, more importantly communicate properly /patiently with your patient to make them understand. For aged people if there is a significant issue please speak with their sons/ daughters. There is a duty of care on your part to ensure it’s communicated well . Regarding you mentioning that you have suggested a glaucoma specialist in Australia, again you just noted a name of a doctor in Sydney without any contact details or phone number while we are in Melbourne which is 1000 kms away! I dont see a point. The whole seriousness of the matter was not conveyed to us and that is what is frustrating and made me write all of the above and hope you take some positives out of this. Thanks
It was a very pleasant experience, as always. The staff are caring and talented. Dr.Karthick is really outstanding, and his diagnosis is 100% accurate. The entire team deserves appreciation
Dr Karthik is a very fine Doctor: his hallmark is his knowledge and his humility. And so is his Team that gives you an appointment, does all the pre-tests before you are seen by the Doctor. Extremely satisfied with the treatment. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
I’m not sure how competent the doctor is, but the front desk staff clearly lacks patience and logical thinking. I had an appointment scheduled for 5:15 pm and called at 4:45 pm to request a rescheduling to 5:30 pm. They told me the doctor needed to leave by 5:00 pm and insisted that I come quickly because it was an emergency. I asked how they could schedule me for 5:15 if the doctor was leaving at 5:00. They responded that the doctor would wait until 5:15 and then leave. My main concern was that even if I arrived at 5:15, the consultation, dilation, and prescription would take at least 1.5 hours, so it was impossible for the doctor to leave by 5:15. I was appalled by the rude and dismissive attitude of the staff, who insisted that the doctor would only be available until 5:15. I was traveling from the other side of the city and had already covered more than half the distance. Such irresponsible behavior is unacceptable and has left me very dissatisfied. I’m relieved this happened before I entrusted them with my eye care.
1 was the lowest, hence rating them 1. Made the mistake of suggesting this doctor for my aged parents who, post 3 hrs of dilation and consultation was made wait for another 40 mins for a prescription. The clinic denied them of a prescription for the consultation and after requesting them a lot hesitantly gave one after making them wait for a long time. Surprised to know that a doctor won't share a prescription unless compelled to. The fee charged is Rs.500,so it wasnt a probono service. Not even starting commenting on the doctor's (Karthik i believe) attitude towards the patient, my mother (and comments passed regarding them requesting for a prescription). The attitude and service of this doctor could vary with the outlook of the patient, on a sliding scale maybe, not sure. Not very doctor-y now, is it?🙃 Given the experience they've had here, I've asked the parents to visit a proper eye doctor for consultation. To summarize, 1. If you would insist on getting a prescription (it's a doctor visit, duh!) Or 2.Unless you are a friend or family of the doctor's - you could try out any other equally competent eye doctor. Since they have legacy clients they deal with, they won't mind your absence!😄
Abhinavas Eye Care, Adyar, Chennai stands out in every aspect of eye care. My father, myself and family have been taken care by Dr AG Ramesh earlier and now by Dr AR Karthick. Matchlessly skilled, experienced and down to earth, Dr. Karthick leading this eye care facility is indeed involved in total patient cure, care and satisfaction. May God bless this temple of eye medi-care, decades of succour to those who are lucky to experience it.
