My Father have had RK surgery in both eyes in 1991 in Madhya Pradesh, but after a year my vision get decreasing, now he is seeing very blurred vision. I am a PRK-induced corneal ectasia patient. Due to this condition, my vision is severely affected by ghosting, starbursts, and all higher-order aberrations (HOAs). While searching for a scleral lens, I came across Dr. Reekham Lal. I contacted him and explained my issues. He asked me to visit Shree Meenakshi Eye Hospital in Nallakunta, Hyderabad, on November 6th. I traveled four hours to meet him. He tried various types of contact lenses, but none worked for me. He then suggested I should consider the DALK procedure and discussed my case with Dr. Arjun Srirampur, an ophthalmologist at the same hospital. However, Dr. Arjun Srirampur said I was not eligible for the DALK procedure, which was fine since I wasn’t ready for such a major surgery. Just five months earlier, I had undergone CXL to halt the progression of ectasia. Instead, he prescribed Alphagan Z, a drop that shrinks the pupil temporarily. Being cautious about using sterile eye drops, I asked both doctors if there were any complications associated with this medication. They immediately assured me there weren’t any. I double-checked with them again and specifically asked Dr. Reekham Lal if the drop was sterile. He said it wasn’t. The next day, when I researched Alphagan Z online, I found out it is, in fact, a sterile drop. I messaged Dr. Reekham Lal about this, and he responded by saying all medications come sterile. I used the drop for just three days, but it caused severe inflammation, severe dry eyes, increased haze,destroyed my near vision, and increased ghosting in both eyes. Previously, I could at least work on my computer or mobile phone, but now even that has become difficult. I am currently on other sterile drops to reduce the inflammation. It has been 9 weeks since I stopped using Alphagan Z and 7 weeks since starting the new sterile drops for inflammation, yet I haven’t seen even a 10% improvement. I deeply regret visiting Dr. Reekham Lal and Dr. Arjun Srirampur; at least I would still have my near vision.
