Eye Care Alabama (Attalla)

I saw Dr. Mohon in August of 2024. I was impressed with him, as he was very professional and personable. I also made appointments for both my son and husband to see him, which they did. The doctor himself, is great. Two months later, in October I believe, staff called and advised me my contacts were FINALLY ready for pickup. My husband picked them up. It wasn't until November or December I needed them and then realized the staff gave me the wrong contacts. They were the wrong prescription. I made an appointment, took them back, to find out there was no record of them ever being "checked out" or given to me. For that fact, there was NO RECORD of me ever having paid for them!! I paid with my FSA (flexible spending account) card. So, I was not ever given the right contacts that I had already paid for once. I told them I wasn't paying for them again and would just order online. During this time, I also requested MULTIPLE time to get a copy of my receipt. I needed an itemized receipt due to me paying with my FSA card. They were never able to provide me with this, and offered several different excuses. I even gave them the invoice numbers I had on my regular receipt. They had no record of that either. I have gotten the run around, and finally made to feel like I was the burden because I kept calling "when there was nothing they could do". Now, I am left with $181 and some odd change to pay AGAIN because American Fidelity has deactivated my FSA card due to me not being able to produce an itemized statement or receipt. I am fed up and aggravated to say the least and no one in my family, and no one that asks about recs for an eye doc will get Dr. Mohans office.

Recently had an appointment and it was a great experience. The staff was professional and kind, facility was beautiful, and Dr. Mohon answered all questions I had regarding my exam and results. I highly recommend this office for all of your eye care needs. I ordered some glasses as well, they had a wonderful selection and I received them quickly. I will definitely be returning!

I recently made my second visit here to get a new set of eyeglasses. The appointment booking was easy and expeditious, but that's all I can say good happens. After all the initial checks and the doctor came in ....he did a couple lens adjustments and then almost immediately determined I had possible cataracts and wanted to schedule a follow up visit. At the time of making the second appointment it didn't occur to me WHY do I have to get another appointment for further tests when I'm here already? Then the next day the receptionist called in an attempt to reschedule my appointment for afternoon instead of morning. Since I'm a day sleeper I HAD to keep my appointment. But now I'm wondering why do they have to move equipment? And now I have possible glaucoma. Now I asked what about the cost? They are going to file with my medical insurance and it still is going to cost me $180. So I cancelled. I think this sounds fishy. So long story .....I still have no glasses . I don't really trust doctors but now I can't even trust eye doctorfir $'m heading over to get 2 pairs for $79

Doctor is great however the woman at check in refused to accept our secondary insurance. She told me it did not cover vision simply because she has never heard of them. We've had the same insurance for 5+ years. I'm aware of the coverage. So now I have a bill to be paid because she didn't want to call the insurance company.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 4. I'm 43 and this was the worst place I have ever been. The receptionist was nice. The ophthalmologist was self centered and egotisistical. He put me through multiple tests that were in no way part of a basic eye exam. Charged more than double average rate for she exam. Had one of worst glasses selections I have ever seen. I waited almost a month to get my glasses in. They broke in barely a week and he wants to charge another 280 to replace them even though they are insured against breakage. Do not go here. He is just after squeezing as much money as he can out of you till you realize it and go somewhere else.

We went for appointments today for the first time. all 3 of us as a family and was not disappointed the staff was all very helpful, nice and awesome with our eye exams. If your looking for a good eye doctor this is definitely a place to visit. Awesome frame options as well!

Firstly, my husband and I really liked Dr. Mohon, he's very thorough and seemed very knowledgeable about his profession. We did have issues with the amount of time it took to get my husbands glasses back from the lab and weren't called when they arrived in the office 2 weeks after the time they were expected to be in the office. Other than that, we have been pleased with how the situation was handled by Dr Mohon. The receptionist was a tad bit rude and though she said she had called to let us know the glasses were in, that wasn't correct as we have call logs going back 3 months and no voicemails or calls regarding his glasses but the doctor ensured that that would be investigated as well. **Update** I spoke with Dr Mohon this evening, 3-22-2021, and he went above and beyond to investigate why the glasses were delayed and the issues regarding follow up from the office. We are satisfied with the steps taken to ensure it doesn't happen again but do understand that mistakes will happen. **Updated 2 years later**. There are just too many "staff changes" at this office to warrant returning. We got a bill after my husband paid for his glasses up front and was told that it was all he owed. When I called about the bill, I was told that they had new staff in training and that she had failed to charge us the extra $55 copay for the progressive lenses (even though it was charged on one pair of the two). It's just one issue after another. Last year, my exam prior to seeing the doctor, was by a trainee and I was her first actual client. I was patient as I understand everyone is a beginner at some point, but it was less than stellar and uncomfortable at times. Every year we visit, there seems to be "staff changes" and someone is always "in training". I don't care how good a doctor is, if the support staff isn't properly trained or knowledgeable, the business is gonna suffer. I just don't have much confidence that we are ever being correctly billed or seen to as customers.

My overall experience at Eye Care Alabama (Attalla) has been great. They literally went above and beyond to make my experience a pleasure. The lady working the front desk (Tiffany) was very polite and she also helped me pick out my glasses. Dr. Mohon is very professional and well educated in his field. He found things going on with my eyes that other optometrist have overlooked throughout the years. They'll forever have my business and I highly recommend them.
