Hayes Eye Center

My family and I had been seeing Dr Hayes for over a decade until we moved to the Huntsville area. My son went to see an eye doctor in Owens Cross Roads that starts with an "S" and was told he would eventually go blind. My daughter and I saw the same doctor in Owens Cross Roads and the glasses we got there were not right and unusable. When I called to tell them there were problems with the glasses, I was told that they couldn't do anything because they were "special ordered". Hmmmm...all prescription glasses are special order. So, I drove 2 hours back to Dr Hayes in Chelsea to see him. Guess what....there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with my son's eyes except nearsightedness that a new pair of glasses with the correct prescription wouldn't fix. His prescription from Owens Cross Roads was incorrect. All the glasses we got from Dr Hayes were perfect. I also found out that the glasses we got from Owens Cross Roads, and paid a higher price for what we were told was the best anti-glare coating, smudged very easily was a cheap coating. All anti-glare coatings are not created equal. I trust Dr Hayes, he's very kind and knowledgeable. Staff are all helpful and nice, and I didn't have to wait long to see the doctor. I'll drive 2 hours and more to see Dr Hayes every time.

We have used Dr. Hayes for many years and he and his staff have always given us wonderful service. The staff is friendly and helpful and Dr. Hayes is thorough and professional. Several years ago my husband lost much of his vision due to a detached retina. While we are thankful for the wonderful care he received from the Birmingham Eye Foundation, they were not able to restore his vision after surgery. Dr. Hayes would not give up, but worked diligently to find a solution. He was able to prescribe some special lenses that enabled my husband to see well enough to finally return to work. We will always be grateful for the extra care he received from Dr. Hayes when others offered little hope.

Dr. Hayes is a great doctor and very friendly but I can't give five stars because of the people in the front. I went up there three months ago for an eye exam, and to order some new glasses because mine broke. They had me pick out my frames, and lenses, gave me a price, and told me they'd call me when they came in. Now three months later with no phone call telling me they arrived I call them to see if my glasses have come in, and they told me they haven't ordered any. Just been waiting for absolutely nothing. Again he's a a great doctor but I'm not happy with the people at the front desk.

Dr hayes is great. He really cares for his people. His staff on the other hand are horrible. My son who is autistic has been waiting over a month for his glasses. Well actually longer because his staff didn't help. I was told he could have any glasses on the wall. So we picked one. He is 12 and the ones he picked were for adults. The lady should have told us that. So after waiting 3 weeks for them they said they would call us when ready. Didn't happen. Anyway took them back and choose a kids Fram. Now it has been over a month. I call today still no glasses. Like I said Dr hayes is great. The staff is not. Hate to leave but I can't deal with the staff and the attitude. Not sure where to go but I will find someone else

Dr Hayes and his entire staff are amazing! Their customer service as well as Dr Hayes' bed side manner and knowledge of everything optical is what will have me marketing for them! I cannot express how happy I am with my new glasses and how excited I am to be able to see things clearer!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Hayes and is staff! He was extremely patients with my 6 year old and 1 year, was nothing but informative about everything he was doing. Not only did his staff work us in last minute, but then again helped us on a weekend! We are newer to the Chelsea area, and will ONLY use Dr. Hayes from now on!

I highly recommend Hayes Eye Center! Dr. Hayes is great and his Intern, Janean, did an excellent job with my exam. No wait time friendly and professional staff members and Tracy is especially helpful! She has a talent for picking frames to fit the shape of your face and does not try to upsell which is very refreshing. They try to save you time and money!

Dr. Hayes has been here in this community for many years. He has always done a fantastic job everytime I have been in his office. HE IS THE CHELSEA EYE CARE DOCTOR. from routine exams to acute emergencies. He has always went above and beyond every time I have needed him. Thanks Dr Hayes!!
