Appointment rescheduled 4 times without speaking to me prior. I called to speak with someone the 4th time because the apt was moved a month away. Was told that the Dr wouldn't be there for my scheduled day and that was the next available apt. I asked if it was normal to be rescheduled multiple times and was told yes, it was normal. I canceled my apt and told the person that I would go elsewhere to a Dr that would keep their apt. I checked online just to see, and there were available apt times 1 day away from my original apt.
All the assistants there are very friendly and helpful. Dr. Glass is the best! She is very knowledgeable about all aspects of eye care. She is very personable and makes you feel at ease and valued. She has been my eye doctor for many years. I moved to Huntsville ten years ago, and I drive from Huntsville to Scottsboro just to see her.
The Dr was great, however at least 2 of the front staff, demeaned and embarrassed my family member. My family member has a disability, just because you can't see it they had no reason to question her and laugh at her, Humiliate her in public. They had already told them that the insurance would pay before the appointment was made. At checkout the two staff members told them that insurance wasn't paying and continued talking loudly about them only saying they 'claimed' they were disabled. They did call and apologize that something had been entered incorrectly into the system. I think this group need to revisit HIPAA training . I am disgusted that a professional office staff would be allowed to behave this way!
The point of this is that they humiliated me and acted incredibly unprofessional and unkind. They told me that I owed fifty dollars when I did not. I called my insurance company while I was sitting in front of the employee and they said it was completely covered. I was told to have Eyecare Associates call my insurance's provider number - the employee (some blonde woman) refused. multiple employees talked loudly back and forth across the room, where many customers were, about how I couldn't afford to pay what they thought I owed. I was eventually told that I could leave without my prescription since I legitimately didn't have the money, and they laughed at me as I walked away. It was the mocking, condescending laughter of someone who wanted to hurt me. I turned around and said, "don't laugh at me." And she just laughed more. Oh, and I'm disabled, which they knew because of my insurance, but one of them said "she's disabled - she says she is." So - my Love was furious (many people are furious about this), and called them to tell them to check again. They did (I mean, I had my insurance company on the phone in front of her, but whatever), and I got a call where she said that she had selected the wrong insurance plan and I in fact dont owe anything. I mean - I knew that, I told her that, I told her to call my insurance, but instead she laughed at me and talked loudly about how I'm poor. So I do NOT recommend eyecare associates, as they are the most rude and cruel people I have ever met. Not only this, but even though they discovered that I don't owe anything, they haven't put my prescription onto the patient portal. So yes, they humiliated me, they showed the utmost disrespect, and after finding out they were wrong, they didn't make it right.
Dr. Johnson is the BEST!! He's very thorough, professional, caring, and took the time he needed to to fit my needs. I would recommend his office of eye care to anyone, without a doubt!!
I had such a great experience! Alicia was so kind and welcoming when she took me back, and Dr. Glass always goes above and beyond to make sure my prescription is just right. Heather showed me all the cutest frames, and Tianna helped me narrow down my choices with so much patience and a smile. Everyone was so sweet and made the whole process easy and enjoyable!
I did not enjoy my experience here at all. As soon as I walked in, the receptionist, Rachel, was rude right off the bat just because I wanted to make sure they had both of my insurances on file. She made a lot of snarky comments and made it very obvious I was annoying her. Next I had to choose between a $40 retinal scan or having my eyes dilated. I have never HAD to choose between the two, I have always declined. I said would be leaving and I would find another eye doctor because I didn't want to pay $40 and I had to drive home after the appointment, the woman told me if I had my eyes dilated it would not affect my driving. This was not true, because afterwards I could barely see to drive home, luckily it was only a 5 minute drive. They did not even offer me dilation sunglasses until the very end of the appointment. The prices here are INSANE. Even with two insurances, I paid almost $500. I have never paid more than $100 at an eye doctor with two good insurances. The price would have been even more if I had not taken the "free" pair of glasses off my bill. I was told I would get a $100 rebate for my contacts, but after submitting my information, it turned out to be a $75 rebate. Dr.Norman Johnson was really nice and helpful. That is the only positive thing I can say about this experience. My husband came a week before me and also had an unpleasant time and also paid way more than he ever has. He waited a month for his glasses to come in and never received a call or text that they were in. After speaking to our coworkers, friends, and family, apparently a lot of people have issues and they all referred us to Rainsville Eye Clinic, which apparently is worth the drive to avoid this place.
Everyone there is Amazing!! Front desk staff made registering a Breeze! Friendly Helpers made the Exam less stressful explaining every step.Dr.Johnson was really informative and Caring and the last stop was leaving with 2 pair of glasses and the check out person was amazing as well ..overall rating should be more than 5 stars! Great Experience will use this place again and recommend to others!
