My friend had a complication during his cataract surgery so his practice called Dr. Kunimoto's office so he could come in the next day. Surgery was set for the following week and we went in the next day for the follow-up. My friend's vision continues to improve.
The office staff and doctor are kind and efficient; very no nonsense as they are busy. Much appreciated! As busy as they are, they took care of my friend's situation quickly; a huge relief when it comes to vision issues. Thank you!
Everyone here at fabulous! Extremely helpful and kind. They really care about their patients ! Dr Kunimoto is the best ever ! He saved my eye! I highly recommend them! Thank you for all that you did for me !
My husband was referred to Dr. Kunimoto for a severely detached retina. Dr. Kunimoto confirmed the diagnosis and completed the surgery. My husband's recovery was well ahead of expectations. We were incredibly grateful for the exceptional care.
Dr Kunimoto is the BEST of the best! He has returned to his new practice, Retina and Vision Institute of Arizona, after being gone for a while doing Research. I am so grateful to find him again! He previously saved my eyesight after my retina detached. His quality of care is exceptional! He takes time to review, listen, explain, discuss treatment/ continued care and is highly skilled - many reasons why I value Dr Kunimoto. His new office is large, comfortable and very clean and his staff are professional and efficient.
Dr. Kunimoto and his staff were exceptional. Very personable couldn't have asked to have had a better experience.
So many red flags! The receptionist is going to make this place go out of business. It was nothing but miscommunication, misunderstanding, and mistakes from the very beginning with her. She doesn't even bother to try and use what I would call proper English.
Last year I had uhc. I had talked in length to the office manager about how in January of 2025 I will switch to Cigna. There was a miscommunication between the office manager and the receptionist about this. The receptionist assured me that they would take my Cigna for my appointment in January.
I've never been to a medical office where at the beginning of the year they did not ask if there's been a change of insurance.
They apparently tried to bill UHC for my January visit and it didn't go through. Instead of calling me, they waited until I drove all the way there for my February appointment to let me know that they don't take Cigna.
I don't know if the office manager simply doesn't remember our lengthy conversations in December, or she's just being irresponsible. But she blames it on me, saying it's always the patient's responsibility to tell the doctor's office of a change of insurance. Either way, it's narcissistic, irresponsible, and unprofessional. I should have known something was wrong with this office when I saw her walking around barefoot.
She blames me for their own incompetence, unprofessionalism, irresponsibility, and lack of integrity.
Also, Dr Kunimoto was the first doctor to do surgery on my mom's torn retina. She always claimed that he is the one that killed her eye . May or may not have been his fault. But, other doctors tried to fix it and they couldn't.
When I go into Dr Kunimoto's office it is such a pleasure. The front office staff greets you with such kindness and makes you feel right at home. The doctor is so friendly as well. It is truly a great experience!!! A. Rosenhahn
The Retina and Vision Institute of Arizona is nothing short of incredible. From the moment I arrived, I was met with kindness, professionalism, and an unparalleled level of care. Dr. Derek Kunimoto, Kelly, the front desk staff (whose name I regretfully forgot), and the male assistant made up a dream team that I am endlessly grateful for.
My journey with them began on Saturday, January 4th, when I visited America's Best due to blurred vision and an obstruction in my right eye. They quickly identified a retinal detachment and called Dr. Kunimoto. Amazingly, his office got back to me immediately, and I was scheduled to be seen on Tuesday, January 7th.
From the second I walked through their doors, I was treated with such compassion and efficiency. I was informed I would need surgery, but my insurance initially didn't cover it since it was out of network. Kelly went above and beyond, reassuring me that she was working tirelessly to get the procedure approved as an emergency. In the meantime, they offered to discount the surgery to make it affordable. This level of care and flexibility was truly remarkable.
To my relief, I was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, January 8th, at 6:15 pm. I arrived early, at 4:15 pm, and was promptly prepped for surgery. Dr. Kunimoto performed the procedure flawlessly, and I cannot thank him enough for saving my vision. At my follow-up appointment on Thursday, January 9th, I was thrilled to learn from Kelly that my insurance ultimately covered the surgery, and I even got my deductible back!
I cannot overstate how much Kelly's determination and advocacy meant to me. She went to bat for me in every sense of the word. This entire team embodies compassion, dedication, and excellence. They made me feel cared for, valued, and understood throughout this difficult time.
If I could give them 1,000,000 stars, I would. I wholeheartedly recommend the Retina and Vision Institute of Arizona to anyone in need of eye care. They didn't just save my vision--they gave me hope and peace of mind. Thank you, Dr. Kunimoto, Kelly, and the entire team, for everything you've done. You have my eternal gratitude!
