Please, please do not go to this eye clinic. They caused me so much stress and wasted money.
My eyes are pretty bad (-7.00) and got results that would warrant at LEAST a conversation with the OD. The OD who signed off on my prescription? I never met them or was in the same room as them.
Beginning to end:
- I arrive on time to my appointment; they are late by 45 minutes and offer no apology.
- the person (I assume the tech) doesn't introduce themselves.
- they dilate my eyes and run a couple tests. That first person then leaves me in a room, no explanation, for 20 minutes - I have no idea what I'm waiting for. They made me take my contacts out and I can't see anything, but I don't know if I can put them back in or not at this point. So I'm just sat, not able to see or do anything and wait.
- they fit me for contacts and don't even tell me my new prescription, I have to ask.
- they don't explain any results to me. They tell me the optician isn't in today? They then tell me I'm done and to leave. Please keep in mind I have high myopia (-7.00 in both eyes) and I'm only 29l. Also my prescription has VERY MUCH WORSENED and they should at least speak with me about retina health - they do no such thing. I have no idea how my eye health is or the results of ANY of the tests they ran.
I am absolutely contesting this with my insurance and going to a new eye doctor for another eye test. Please don't make the mistake I did of going to this terribly unethical clinic.
Terrible experience here from start to finish. My wife's appointment started 40 minutes after the scheduled start time. I guess they don't realize that people have other stuff going on their lives and need appointments to be timely! Then, they took her back, took her contact lenses out, and left her in a room for another 10 minutes, which was very disconcerting as her vision is very blurry without her lenses. The tests were done by techs, which is fine, but there was no OD there to explain the results! So even though her prescription was changed from -6.25 to -7.5, no one was there to explain anything about it. It feels like it should be illegal for an OD to sign a prescription that OD being physically their to perform the manual refraction process. Then, they charged her for i don't know what even though our insurance says that eye exams are $0. I will not be going back and would not recommend them to anyone
Everyone here is so friendly, efficient and quick! Will never go anywhere else. Dr Schwartz is caring, informative and doesn't just steer towards surgery!
The staff is very professional and friendly. The big problem I have is all the "hidden" fees. I'm already out-of-pocket $1k between all the eyedrops prescribed and the mandatory evaluations required from my Primary Care Provider and a clearance from a Retina specialist. I'm having cataract surgery in two weeks. It would be helpful if I could know my final cost, however; no one claims to know what my final cost will be. I have an insurance plan in which I have to pay $8k out-of-pocket for medical expenses each year b4 the company starts paying 100 percent and it would really be helpful to know how much more I have to come up with so I can meet my deductible and not have to worry about paying for anything else the remainder of the year.
Awful! Not going back. Because of recent surgery, had to get van service to the appt. After some testing, they dilated my eyes. THEN, a couple of staff came in and said the dr. wasn't there that day!! After they dilated my eyes!! So saw a different dr. Made a followup appt. w/her for the following month. Guess what, 2 days before the appt, (after I got several confirmation emails), they called to say the dr. wouldn't be there that day. Not only that, but it was almost impossible to get an RX filled. There's no way to call the office directly. I had to text twice and emailed the dr. before I got them to follow up. Stay away if you expect to be treated well as a patient!
UPDATE:
So, I changed the score from a one star to 3. I wish I could give 2 different scores--one for the drs. and one for whoever schedules the drs. A big shout out to Dr. Shay. She correctly diagnosed me with inflammation of the eyes and after a month of RX eyedrops, my vision is 20/20! No more glasses---. This is why I wanted to stay with her. And a big thumbs down to the way they move around the drs. to the different offices. If you really don't care who you see, this is the place. But trying to stick with the same dr. is hard when they are changing their schedules and locations. Even the office staff doesn't have control over their schedules.
The folks at Schwartz Laser Eye Center did an awesome job at preparing me for the LASIK procedure. They discussed each step of the process, giving me details of what I would be experiencing, and guided me through the aftercare as well. The staff are very thoughtful, kind, and empathetic.
I went for a LASIK consultation. They dilated my pupils, which stayed dilated for over 48 hours after the appointment. They didn't notify me that the dilation could last a few days, until after I followed up with them two days after the appointment wondering what was wrong with my eyes. I knew a dilation was coming, but I assumed it would be a few hours, not a few days. The different eye center that I ended up getting LASIK at didn't need to dilate my pupils at all, as they had the retinal imaging technology that gave the doctors a view of the retina without the use of dilating drops.
Also, in my opinion, their COVID protocols were a bit excessive for 2022. They taped a mask to my face in the exam room, which is actually kind of funny when I look back on it and put it in writing. I'm fully supportive of wearing masks but thought the taping was unnecessary.
Dr Schuartz and his team made my dream of being able to see without glasses or contacts to come true. I am beyond blessed and feel very exited for my eyes progress day by day. I had Epi-lasik and this surgery was the best gift I could give to my own eyes. Everyone at the clinic are very kind and help me all the way through the process. They explain every little detail and anwer any question you might have. I felt a great positive environment, all the girls and Drs were super nice. Dr Schwartz was super knowledgeable and he explained why Epi-lasik was my best option. Don't risk your vision with an inexperienced doctor out there, come to the best " Schuartz Laser Eye Center."
