Puente Hills Eye Care

I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding care I have received from Dr. Michael Chua from the very first visit, he took the time to listen carefully to my concerns and thoroughly explain my condition and treatment options. I never felt rushed, and every question I had was answered with patience and clarity. I highly recommend Dr. Michael Chua to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, and trustworthy eye specialist.

To start, I was referred to this location by my optometrist who gave this place high praise so of course I scheduled an appointment to come in for an exam. Calling to schedule an appointment is fairly easy and quick however once you arrive it is another story. Once I arrived for my appointment a few weeks later, the lobby was full of patients, a clear sign that this location does not know how to manage scheduling efficiently. Despite arriving on time for my appointment, I waited an additional 1.5 hours before I could be seen, not a good start. During that time, I was told to do the usual eye exam screenings using the machines and I CLEARLY saw that the machine I was to use, had just been used by another patient and the employee did not even bother to clean or sanitize it prior to asking me to put my eye/face on there. I had to request for them to clean it and then they cleaned it for me. Once it was finally my turn, I was seen by Dr. Chua. He was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable, however for a doctor, he was not sanitary at all. Normally, when you examine a patient, you would wear gloves especially if you are checking their eyes and pulling up their eye lids. Dr. Chua, used his BARE HANDS to pull up my eye lids not once but multiple times! I know he's a doctor but I have no idea where his hands have been, if they have been washed or if he had just finished seeing another patient. I quickly finished up my appointment, was given a prescription, paid my copay and was told to arrange a follow up in a month which I did. Fast forward 1 month later I come back, not because I want to but because I had already seen this doctor and they had my information already and was aware of my condition. Same thing, I waited for about an hour this time, despite being arriving 10 minutes earlier than my appointment time. Saw Dr. Chua again, and again, bare hands just touching my eyes and face. Finished the follow up appointment and sent me to the front desk to pay my copay, and here is where my complaint is and why I mainly decided to finally write this review. I was told my copay is a certain amount. I paid it in full and thought I'm finally done with this place. A few weeks later I receive my medical bill which clearly shows what was paid to Puente HIlls Eye Care Center/Garlan G Lo's office and what I am to owe, and what do I find? I was overbilled on the copay amount and no refund or credit was ever issued back to me for that overpayment. The medical insurance company clearly shows that they paid Puente HIlls Eye Care Center/Garlan G Lo's office 3 days after my appointment so they have more than enough time to send me any credit or refund back for the overpayment but so far its been 2 weeks since that payment and nothing. Very shady practices and unsanitary office procedures. As always this is my own personal experience, and I was willing to overlook the unsanitary procedures of handling patients but the overbilling was the final straw. I highly recommend if you are a patient of this location, to check your medical bills, you may be in the same boat as me and being over-billed and should immediately request a refund like I have. I would not recommend this location and recommend you go elsewhere, these are shady practices and businesses that conduct shady practices should not be allowed to operate.

Dr garlan Lo wait time can be quite long , approximately 2 hrs even with appointment. And u only see him for 10 minutes! I am not sure what is taking so long, or if he is overbooking patients since his waiting area is always crowded....

All the technicians are courteous and professional and Dr. Tua is the main reason we love coming to the Puente Hills Eye Care Center. Dr. Tua has a wonderful spirit and bedside manner. I just wish that there was more privacy in the eye screening areas. There are no partitions!!!

Well..I'm a student sir and i'm 15..Well you see several students experienced this.Now i'm being one of them.I can't see the words on the whiteboard so that is soo struggling for me to understand the lesson.it affects my studies.I sit about 48 or 86 inches away from the white board and the words are also small in size so all are blur to me.so at this point i wonder should i start wearing glasses?or how can i get through this?Please help me Doctor. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dr. Garlan Lo is excellent! My wife and I have been seeing him for over 30 years. We were his first group of patients, his experience grows with time but his dedication is always consistent.

Dr. Chua is very professional and reliable. He is also patient with kids. My son and I always feel cared for by the doctor. I 100% recommend it to friends and family members.
