Costco Optical Department

I've dealt with the optometrist and his staff as well as the ladies outside by all the glasses/frames and everyone was great. I was very confused with the reviews and waited a while to finally review once I talked to almost everyone. I'm happy with all the services. The eye exam, bringing frames I already own to get prescription on them (prescriptions from other places), buying frames there to get prescription them, etc.

I've been coming to the Costco optometrist for years! I get on the waitlist list first come with serve, it has always worked for me and I'm sure for a lot of people. I always try and use my husband's insurance in December before the year ends to use up his insurance. Yesterday I came in all of a sudden I need an appointment. I'm sure people come in while they do the shopping and take advantage of getting their check up. I guess I won't be coming to Costco anymore for my glasses and contacts If I wanted to make an appointment I can schedule anywhere else. Which makes me sad because I've been coming to my Costco optometrist for many years. The girls in the optical desk are very friendly anyway!! But I really like the Doctor.

My purchase experience was an awful experience, the associate who assisted me seemed annoyed that she couldn't find my VSP insurance coverage. She had me call my insurance for an authorization number/code; it turns out that she needed to call herself and get said code. I hated this experience I should have never completed the transaction but I had already purchased the membership just for the eye prescription. After this review I should reach out to corporate to maybe cancel the entire membership & purchase because this is my local Costco & it'd suck to have to continuous interaction with sad employees who treat customers like they are doing something wrong.

I hope Dr. Chin/Chen sees this review. I've been coming to this optometry well over 14 years now and today is the decision that I made to stop going. I honestly like the service that Dr. Chin provides personally, but unfortunately due to his support staff who is horrid and rude, he's lost a loyal patient. I did my part to call and make sure that they knew I was going to be a few minutes late, but every word that came out of my mouth was cut off very rudely by his assistant. She's done this before and the first time I shrugged it off as her having a bad day but today was the last straw for me. I've also had it with the crowding and walk ins and how you're treated like someone on welfare....I'm on my way to a reputable Inglewood optometrist who's team has in the past treated me with kindness and professionalism, and takes VSP.. They're more pricey (but not by much) but I'd rather pay more for excellent customer service - Good luck on scheduling here.

Went in today looking to buy eye glasses 1:00pm because mine are broken . And the girls working there so lazy and rude. So I brought my sister to help me choose and after looking at a pair inside the glass shelf I told employees I need second opinion . So got my sis and ask to see them again . Employee was so rude to say he did not like them ! He said they was small . I'm like okay but obviously I need a second opinion no need for your remarks. And they don't even clean the glasses after I tried them on she put back on display without cleaning them !

Some of the ladies working there are arrogant, rude and phony. I hate the whole "excussseee me" tone that they used with me. I had no idea that there were some special procedure set for customers to grab and view glasses. You're required to toss glasses into this "contaminated" box once you're done grabbing them. There was no sign, prior communication or any assistance for customers who simply want to browse. I wasn't trying on the glasses so no one was at risk. There are better and more professional ways to address customers.

The girls that work there are rude and unprofessional. I went to get glasses for my son and so many things went wrong. The eye exam went well but once I had the prescription to get glasses for him it went down hill. They could not locate my son under VSP. They brushed it off like "oh I can't help you" the lady from VSP told them how my son's name was spelled in the system they still were not comprehending. I told her to turn the monitor around and tried to look how she had my sons Information up she told me I can't look even though people walk behind the monitor all day every day there is no coverage and it's just open so anyone can browse. Now I hate that I have to go back and get his glasses because I will never go back to that location for glasses.I told them how come the optometrist was able to locate him but you can't? The girl said we're separate, Well I know that but the information is the same.Very Ghetto no comprehension skills or common sense
