From the time I called to schedule my appointment to the moment I picked up my glasses, everything was a great experience. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I hadn't had an eye exam in over two years and was on Medi-Cal, so I was a little worried about what was covered and what frames I'd be limited to -- but they made everything easy. The optometrist was so kind, and we even shared a few laughs. She explained the health of my eyes, what to watch for, and how to keep them in good shape. They also had a surprisingly nice selection of frames for Medi-Cal customers, which I didn't expect. My prescription came out perfect -- I can see clearly with no squinting at all. They also gave me a free case, very nice. I truly appreciate the staff and the doctor for their kindness, helpfulness, and quality service. I'll definitely be returning. Even if you don't have insurance, their prices are lower than some of the big retail chains. Great experience all around!

Shout out to Angela for being the hero of our drive back to Seattle. My boyfriend's glasses broke out of nowhere, and she had them fixed in 15 minutes flat. Kind, fast, and genuinely helpful -- we couldn't have asked for better.

I went to see Dr. Mukai at Vision Designs Optometry, and unfortunately it was one of the WORST experiences I've ever had at an eye appointment. To start, I waited about 20 minutes past my appointment time to be seen because she was finishing up with another patient, even though I arrived on time. Once I finally got into the exam room, I handed her my contact lens box (Acuvue Moist) so she could pull the prescription details from it. Instead of simply reviewing it and explaining options, she immediately criticized it and said she would never prescribe those contacts because they're "not good for dry eye," and that she would only prescribe them to "little kids." The comment was unnecessary, rude, and made me feel judged right away. During the exam, she became visibly frustrated with me and told me that my answers "made no sense." She also said my left eye (with astigmatism) is "lazy" because my previous doctor gave me the wrong prescription. On top of that, she got impatient when I took a moment to compare which option was clearer -- which is literally what patients are supposed to do during the test. The most upsetting part was when she started rushing me to finish because "they are closing soon." That was especially frustrating considering I was the one waiting 20 minutes for my appointment to start. Finally, her voice was also very loud and felt like she was yelling, and the entire interaction became so overstimulating and overwhelming that I was on the verge of tears and ended up leaving the appointment without a new prescription. Being shamed, rushed, and spoken to with frustration during a medical appointment is unacceptable. I came in for help, not to be made to feel stupid or like a burden. A professional should educate their patient and create a calm environment, not pressure them and make them feel uncomfortable for needing a moment to answer. I would not recommend Dr. Mukai or this office based on my experience.

As a returning customer, my loyalty to Vision Designs Optometry in Long Beach remains strong. It's always a pleasure supporting this local small business. Their frame selection continues to be unique and stylish, a refreshing change from the usual chains. I especially appreciate Sylvia's expertise - she has a real talent for finding the perfect frames. In fact, it was last year that she introduced me to LaFont, and they're still my favorite! The team at Vision Designs always provides great customer service, remembering me and making each visit a breeze. And of course, the optometry care is top-notch. My last prescription adjustment with Dr.Jang has me seeing perfectly! If you're looking for a reliable local optometrist with a great eye for style and excellent service, that accepts insurance - Vision Designs is the place to go!!!

This was the best optometrist that I have ever been to. She took her time and was very considerate and answered all my questions and the staff was great. I would highly recommend this place for any of your eye care needs.

Dr Katie Jang and her staff are awesome. Kind considerate and helpful. Doc Katie in particular pays great attention to detail about your need for prescription glasses and desired outcome. I'm a pretty tough one when it comes to customer service. They are the best!!!!!
