UCSF Pediatric Ophthalmology Clinic

I feel like negative reviews always get heard and not positive ones. We had an appt at 2PM and I arrived somewhat early, the front desk was busy on the phone and I waited patiently. They apologized for the wait but that was ok because I knew she was busy. She was kind a polite and didn't have to wait much after checking in maybe less than 10 minutes. I believe we saw an optometrist for my daughter she was so kind and patient and very detailed. Overall experience was great parking and staff. Will be back in about 3 months for a follow up.

My 16 month old son had a referral to this office from his pediatrician because of an eye issue, a chalazion. My wife called the office trying to get an appointment, per the instructions of the pediatrician, and was told that it takes a couple days. She called again a week later, this time she asked for someone who spoke Spanish. The receptionist didn't pass her along to the person who speaks Spanish, instead she insulted her by speaking very slowly to her in English. We didn't an appointment that day either, obviously. She called again and asked for a Spanish speaking person she was told "hey mama, we know who you are. You don't have to call us anymore. When there's a appointment available we'll call you." She tried again many times later and they would either hang up on her or send her calls to voicemail but never did they return her calls. Finally we got an appointment after 3 weeks of trying. My mother had to call and ask, in English, if we could get an appointment to see the doctor. Suddenly the receptionist had a sense of urgency and got my son his appointment. Meanwhile, the chalazion got worse during those 3 weeks and now he most likely will need surgery to have it removed. He doesn't even have all of his teeth but he has to have surgery to have something removed from his face, all because the neglegance of the receptionist. To be honest, it seems like a case of racism because when my mother called and spoke English to her she was not ignored and disrespected like my wife was when she tried to get an appointment. Take good care of your children by taking them somewhere else.

Some comments about the clinic. 1, The clinic is overly booked. Even my appointment is 6 month later, I still have to wait 4 hours at the clinic for my turn. 2, The nurse is irresponsible. The clinic cannot provide information about surgery just because one nurse is on vacation. They even do not have backup for a nurse. 3, The surgery arrangement is messy. The nurse arranges for the COVID test before surgery but the arrangement is not communicated with COVID test center. The patient has to travel back and forth as a messenger between clinic and COVID test center. 4, The clinic does not care about kid health but eager to perform the surgery. The clinic arranges for a surgery even they know the kid is catching cold and there is danger in anesthesia. 5, The doctor is eager to perform a surgery even he knows the kid catches cold and has nose congestion. 6, The clinic front desk is rude and impatient in explaining why they cannot provide information when a single nurse is on vacation.

Worst place ever rude dr Qureshi and the receptionist (older lady) is very rude as well. Dr Qureshi is always canceling appointments and rescheduling. He is always in a rush and it seems that he doesn't care. don't waste your time and look for a different place. The longer drive is worth it.

I will not be returning to Dr. K. We had an appointment time for my son and ended up waiting over 2 hours to be seen. Then, once in the room, he spent about 15 seconds with us. Ridiculous. Additionally, after scheduling a procedure that required arranging childcare for my other children, the week of the procedure I find out the doctor decided to go to a conference. This behavior is completely unprofessional and displays a lack of respect for his patients.

They only have part time Doctors on staff. Because they are short of staff, they wait for an eye appointment is until next year. Obviously children's eye health is not important to this institution. The bottom line is looking very very blurry, but I'm sure it's profitable.

Dr. Azam Qureshi of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital of Oakland, Ophthamology, went above and beyond with my son who has autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disabilities as a result of his rare disorder, SYNGAP1 NSID. After uncovering a mutual love of Ghostbusters and all things ghosts during the pre-op appointment, Dr. Qureshi showed up to surgery the next day with his own proton pack to match my son's and with his phenomenal bedside manner, he helped to keep my son happy and calm leading into surgery. The staff in the Outpatient Unit was equally as wonderful and even supplied a virtual reality headset preset with calming apps. To say I was impressed with Dr. Qureshi and the outpatient team at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital of Oakland would be an understatement. It's rare to find a doctor that truly connects with their patients and we feel so blessed that we were lucky enough to find Dr. Azam Qureshi! Thank you for taking care of my child as if he was your own!!!

Very poor response. I been calling them to make my sons eye appointment as he got referred by his PCP but no one is calling back . I left my cell phone number and they call one time on my home number . I left numerous message with my cell phone . Still waiting and he will start school soon . I was hoping he will be able to see the Dr before school starts . I don't know how to reach them .
