This place was great prior to Dr Pendleton's retirement. I saw Dr Berkowitz once, and she spent less than 5 min with me at my appointment. I scheduled a 6 month follow up at this time. My follow up appointment has been repeatedly cancelled by the office. The scheduler told me that Dr Berkowitz often cancels her sheduled appointments. I asked to be seen by a different physician. They offered me an appointment on one day in January with the other provider (I'm unavailable that one day) and said no more appointments were available through February. I'm already months late on my 6 month follow up because of the office rescheduling me. I will go elsewhere. I have been a healthcare provider for 30+ years. I'm so disappointed.
Update - After I gave the above 2 star review, Dr. Butler personally called me, apologized, and offered me an appointment. She seems like a she really cares about patients and this practice. For now, I've opted to seek care elsewhere, but if they get their scheduling worked out, I would consider returning to this practice to see her.
Pendleton Eye Center is great. Their entire team tries to make you feel comfortable and at ease, particularly Diana. Dr. Berkowitz is one of the best doctors I've ever had: beyond amazing bedside manners. I was anxious about having any procedures done, especially on my eye, but I felt so well taken care of - it actually restored my trust in medical care. She did an amazing job with my pterygium removal surgery. She also caught some lattice degeneration I had early on so it could be treated, which Dr. Rudometkin did so well, too. I'm now 6 weeks post-op and healing well. Highly recommend this center & Dr. Berkowitz and Dr. Rudometkin.
Everyone in the office was very nice. Dr. Butler is very personable. Amy in the optical area is fantastic - - she's so helpful and patient.
I arrived early for my appointment. I was called in 15 minutes past my appointment time for the first part of the exam (the eye tests). The frustrating part is that I had to wait for an hour after my appointment time for the doctor to come into the room to do the exam.
Dr. Butler is very helpful and kind. My wife has a disability and Dr. Butler was most patient,my wife was very glad how her eye treatment and testing were done. Most grateful for your service.
Excellent care and precision in the process of getting new contacts, very concerned with appropriate fit and proper fitting procedures. Staff is top notch. Dr, Butler is the best!! Highly recommended for anyone with vision issues.
In my forty years of visiting eye care professionals, I have never experienced anything as surreal, negligent, and downright dangerous as my time at this office. This experience was a total clinical and administrative failure from start to finish. I am sharing this so that others do not have to endure the suffering, stress, and physical risk I was subjected to for three weeks.
The core issue was that I was repeatedly given the wrong contact lenses. I went through three trial sets, and with each one, there was zero improvement. I couldn't even see ten feet in front of me. When I reported this, Amy, the optometrist assistant, repeatedly told me I would "get used to it" and that my vision would improve. This was blatant gaslighting. I remained patient and tried to trust their professional opinion, but my vision remained functionally non-existent.
For three weeks of struggling with failing lenses, I did not see or hear from Dr. Butler once. In any competent practice, a doctor would step in after the first or second failed trial to perform new measurements or a re-refraction. Instead, I was left in a cycle of failure with no professional intervention. No adjustments or measurements were made until three weeks had passed.
When I finally returned for my follow-up, I was forced to wait an hour and a half before Dr. Butler saw me--the first time I'd seen her since the initial exam. Despite the long wait and the three weeks of failure, she still didn't perform any testing to see how poorly I was seeing through the contact lenses they had forced me to try. The lack of urgency was appalling.
Communication was a nightmare. I left numerous messages for Amy, seeking help, and she rarely returned them. It reached a point where I had to involve my insurance company just to get Amy to speak with me. Having to use an insurance advocate to force a medical office to do their job is a level of frustration no patient should ever face.
The reason for my blindness was eventually revealed: the prescription was fundamentally wrong. After seeking opinions from two other optometrists, both confirmed a shocking error. My axis was supposed to be "180" (and "110" for the other), but Butler put down "18." This isn't a minor typo; it is a massive clinical error. Furthermore, despite my documented astigmatism, they kept giving me lenses that were not designed for astigmatism. Even the final ones they ordered were the wrong type.
Because I trusted their advice that I would "adjust," I drove in the dark with these lenses. I had to drive extremely slowly, terrified I would hit a pedestrian I couldn't see. It is a miracle I didn't have an accident. I suffered immensely because I trusted people who were either too lazy or too incompetent to check their own work.
When the errors were exposed, I asked politely for a refund since I never received the service I paid for. They flatly refused. There was no apology for the dangerous prescription, the month of wasted time, or the 90-minute wait in their lobby. That refusal was the final straw.
A person under the influence would not make this many critical mistakes. This office lacks focus, diligence, and any sense of caring for its patients. They are unthorough and dismissive. I have included a photo of Dr. Butler's prescription to show just how far off it was. Please, do yourself a favor and find a professional who values your safety and your sight. This place is a disaster.
The last photo is Pendleton Eye Center's prescription. Compare AXIS columns.
Excellent eye exam! I got a new prescription for my contacts and I feel like I have a new lease on life! Thank you to the doctor and friendly, caring staff. Highly recommend Pendleton Eye Center!
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Butler. She's an excellent optometrist very friendly, professional, and caring. She really goes out of her way to make her patients happy and taken care of
Amy, the optician, was amazing. I wanted a light frame, and she took the time to help me choose one that fit my face and head perfectly. I truly appreciate both of them and would highly recommend them to everyone.
