Freda Chin, OD

There is nothing worse than seeking professional care and being met with an attitude that makes you feel like an inconvenience. I am honestly shocked by the lack of professionalism at this practice. My experience with Freda was incredibly disappointing; she was dismissive and treated me as if I were a burden rather than a patient. Freda was unprofessional and acted as if I owed her a favor just for being there. It's surprising this business maintains any patients with that level of service. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

I had a very bad experience. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment, and they didn't let me in, saying they were on their lunch break. They literally closed the door in my face. In addition, the doctor doesn't speak Spanish and doesn't allow any of her employees who do speak Spanish to be present during the exam. During the eye exam, when I explained that I couldn't see clearly with any of the options, she forced me to choose one. As a result, the exam was wrong, and so were my glasses -- for which I paid almost $350. I explained what happened during the exam and told them I still couldn't see well, that everything looked blurry. They offered to remove the digital lens, claiming that was the reason I couldn't see properly, but without any refund, and they also refused to redo the exam. In conclusion, I lost my money. I do not recommend this place. Terrible service.

She's the best eye doctor there is I recommend her to everyone great service and all the ladies that work there are kind and professional

My son has been recently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and one of the requirements for him to start getting assessed through his school we were told he needed to get a doctor note to get his vision checked out and because they took a picture of his eyes which proved he needed glasses. We have never been concerned about his vision but here we were recommended to go to Freda Chin by the school to get a note saying he is fine or he needs glasses. Upon entering the place we were told to fill forms out which we did and we were directed by an employee there to conduct a vision exam with their machines. I had mentioned to the about my son being autistic, not able to obey orders, and that it might be challenging for him to cooperate. They decided to proceed with the test and mid test the employee said I cant do this he is not cooperative and if cant do I can't proceed. So she said she would ask the doctor what they can do. Then they told us to go to another exam room and had my husband hold our son. And asked us to hold our son still which we tried. At this point the doctor was extremely rude and pretty much gave us the i dont care attitude. I must add my son is a 3 year old toddler. After her unsuccessful attempt she stopped and told us she couldn't do nothing for us and that she didn't observe anything out of the ordinary with his sight, she told us that she wouldn't provide his school with a note saying what they needed. And she gave us a copy of the exam which said nothing just that out son had autism and that he would not cooperate. She also gave us a prescription which another employee said we could toss because it wasnt true to wether or not our son needed glasses. Anyway my complaint is if a professional doesnt have compassion, empathy, and care for their patients or the means necessary to serve those patients with disabilities why schedule an appointment? Why take the money for something they could not provide? As a mother I had to restrain myself from calling her out on her bullshit. I was very disappointed. I was crying on my way home and even after. It was a very unprofessional experience.Doctor Chin and her employees are not autistic family friendly.

First time coming here, was referred by my doctor for an injury around my eye...staff was really friendly but Dr Chin wouldn't give me the time of day. Made me feel rushed like I was wasting her time, rude tone and very short with answers. She said she could send my dr a message to get another referral and I told her yes please as I was leaving and she replied with "it's just an email...you can email your doctor." Very unpersonable and a horrible experience. Left with many of my questions unanswered. I will never come back.

I just had one of the worst medical experiences of my life at Dr. Freda Chin, the eye doctor in Patterson. She was one of the rudest, unprofessional and ableist medical providers I've EVER met in my life. She refused to move equipment or even attempt to accommodate me-- despite having prior knowledge of my being disabled. She spoke to me condescendingly, and acted like she had no duty-of-care to offer me anything more than the bare minimum. If that wasn't bad enough, when I asked her for a referral to another doctor that could accommodate me, she refused to offer any suggestions and acted like she knew ZERO doctors anywhere. She shrugged, shook her head vigorously and backed away like I was a rabid zoo animal. It was horrible and dehumanizing. I left 2 minutes later. I will be reporting her to the board.

Dr. Chin is an outstanding optometrist! She is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions clearly. The staff was also very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I was running late to my appointment, but both Dr. Chin and her team were very understanding and accommodating, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend Dr. Chin for anyone looking for excellent eye care!
