I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Blas. She was extremely thorough and really took her time throughout the entire appointment. Her approach was both professional and warm, which made me feel comfortable and well cared for from start to finish.
Her team was also fantastic -- everyone was kind, attentive, and efficient. I'd especially like to recognize Anna, who was exceptional. She helped with frame selection and did a great job explaining how different lenses and prescriptions work, which made the whole process much easier and more enjoyable.
They even went out of their way to educate me about my insurance benefits, which I truly appreciated. Between the care, the communication, and the transparency, the experience exceeded my expectations.
I would recommend Dr. Blas and her team to anyone -- near or far from the Bay Area. Overall, I felt completely welcomed and supported by the whole office, and I will absolutely be returning!
First eye exam ever at fifty-ish and I couldn't have picked a better place. Dr. Michelle at Eyes in Disguise was absolutely amazing. Super welcoming, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the whole experience easy and comfortable.
The exam was very thorough and the technology they use is seriously impressive. She even walked me through some of the advanced imaging and how AI is starting to play a role in eye care. As someone who lives and breathes innovation, that really stood out.
Huge bonus that they're local. Easy to book, super convenient, and a great neighborhood feel with top-tier care.
Highly recommend Eyes in Disguise and Dr. Michelle if you're in San Francisco and need an eye exam. I won't be waiting another fifty years.
Such a terrible experience at this place!!!! All the professionals that work here have very minimal experience. I would not recommend coming here if you have strong prescription. They don't know how to make lenses properly, I asked for the thinnest lenses however the lenses I was given are even thicker than my current glasses which are essentially the same prescription. It's been 4 weeks and they still messed up my lenses and said the lab couldn't do anything about it. On top of that they are charging a higher price for their designer glasses than the typical MSRP I.e. $599 vs $470 on the actual Chanel website. They claimed this is because of insurance, however I have been buying designer glasses for the last 10 years and have never seen this before, seems like they are just taking extra profit. If you have strong prescription save your time and go elsewhere as these people are incredibly inexperienced with handling glasses. I will now have to take these to another glasses place because of how badly they messed up these lenses.
This is to comment on the most recent review regarding this practice and lens thickness. As an optician, I feel compelled to clarify this review because I was literally sitting in the lobby when you came in to pick up your glasses and observed the entire interaction.
I watched the optician re-measure, review, and physically demonstrate--side by side--that your new lenses were, in fact, thinner than your previous lenses, even though your prior pair was in a smaller frame. This was shown clearly, explained patiently, and supported by standard optical principles. The measurements were corrected and the optics were reviewed in real time.
Lens thickness is dictated by prescription strength, frame size and shape, lens material, and centration. These are not opinions, and they are not overridden by requesting "the thinnest lenses." They are simply physics.
I also want to note that I personally get my glasses from this practice and continue to do so because they are consistently transparent, upfront about limitations, and reliable in delivering exactly what is realistically achievable for each prescription. Clear expectations are always set, and they are met.
What I observed during your visit was a knowledgeable optician calmly explaining optical realities and correcting misunderstandings--not inexperience or error. Disagreement with those realities does not make them incorrect.
Education matters. Optical science is not a matter of personal belief or cable-news-level interpretation, and it may be best pursued elsewhere if that's the framework being applied.
I was there. I watched it happen.
I go to Dr Blas every year for my annual eye exam, as I'm required to since I got my laser eyes (elsewhere). Couldn't ask for a more thorough and professional doctor!
I never have any issues scheduling an appointment by calling their office, and they are always prompt. I can't speak to ordering glasses since I don't need them, but my experience here is always pleasant
Dr. Blas and her team are the best! I've been a patient for 2 years since moving to SF. Great communication and experience.
I've been going to Eyes in Disguise for several years for eye exams. Everyone is professional and friendly. I always have a positive experience.
Been a patient here for the past few years. Everything is always seamless and prescription has been great!
