This place is such a mess.
I visited her West Portal location
There are 15 people in a tiny waiting room, and staff has absolutely no urgency to help anyone.
The doctor Mosaddegh is the main holdup, and I saw her multiple times just lazily flipping through files and wasting time.
There was a lady actively coughing and sick in the waiting room, and chairs are 1 inch apart.
No one saw me for 30 minutes, and then I had to wait another 15
minutes for the doctor
The staff was actively laughing at elder patients that were having difficulties.
One patient had gotten her prescription at the other location 2 weeks ago but didn't have it with her, and they were clearly laughing at each other at her misunderstanding the process.
Another was receiving information about insurance companies not covering the laser for his eye surgery. I feel like this information should be given in a better way than a random receptionist trying to explain it to you.
The eye doctor is nothing special and not worth feeling like cattle for an hour
They have no problem springing charges on you (ex. $70 fee for better imaging) instead of informing you ahead of time.
Do not come here! There is no reason for them to be scheduling that many people at the same time. Complete lack of respect for the customer.
I'm sharing my experience so others can be aware of the billing structure before scheduling.
In 2023, I saw Dr. Mosaddegh for an eye exam and treatment for a stye. The total charge for that visit was over $4,000. Recently -- three years later -- I received an additional bill for $350 related to that same appointment, which was unexpected and concerning.
Dr. Mosaddegh did help resolve the stye at the time, and I appreciated that. However, I was advised to purchase a series of laser treatments to prevent recurrence. I was told this would address the underlying issue. When I returned for the first session, it turned out to be an IPL treatment similar to what I typically receive from my dermatologist, and it was not focused specifically on the eye area. That left me confused about the medical necessity and scope of the treatment being recommended.
I ultimately felt uncomfortable with how the services were presented and with the billing follow-up years later. I would encourage prospective patients to ask detailed questions about recommended add-on treatments, medical necessity, and billing timelines before proceeding.
When I walked into the Mosaddegh Institute office on West Portal It was like a breath of fresh air. I was greeted with a smile and quickly invited to the examination rooms and most advanced equipment looked at my problem thoroughly. Then Dr. Mosaddegh came in and connected with me, looked over the results and treated my sagging lower lids with a new technique that didn't involve surgery, but was done in the office with little recovery time and I went home. All in one visit! Amazingly my lower lid now fits naturally, reducing irritation immediately. Thank you Dr. Mosaddegh!
I had a very pleasant experience with both of my appointments of trying on contacts. Both of the contact experts were both very patient with me and equally as knowledgeable about certain strategies and what they recommend if you are struggling. Highly recommend for anyone who is in the market for contacts or had never gotten them before!
I started going to Dr Mosaddegh for my eye care after my previous doctor closed up shop in SF. I was a tad concerned at first because I was seeing low reviews online. But over the last year, I've had time to form my own opinions. Will you likely be taken in a little late for your appointment? Yes. But the reason is one I can live with. Insurance dictates to doctors how long they can spend with you. Dr. Mosaddegh is going to spend the time with you that you require. For me, because of that, I can deal with being seen a little later than my scheduled appointment time.
In September 2025, I needed to have cataract surgery in both eyes. I had some insurance issues, but Dr Mosaddegh and her office worked through them with me with great understanding, patience, and empathy.
After the cataract surgery, my eye sight was fantastic! After a week or so, I noticed my vision, albeit still very good, was not quite as good as right after the surgery. I stopped by the office to mention my observations. They asked if I wanted them to squeeze me into Dr. Mosaddegh's schedule that day. I, of course, accepted that offer. Within 30 minutes, Dr. Mosaddegh came out to the lobby and asked me to come with her. She checked out my eyes and said I had some protein buildup happening. I had looked that up prior to going in and saw where over 50% of cataract surgery patients have this. She said it was no problem to take care of (a 5 minute or less laser procedure in the office) and asked that I schedule it at the front desk, which I promptly did.
So my final thoughts:
- Dr Mosaddegh wants you to understand what's going on with your eyes and is a great communicator, a great listener, and quite empathetic.
- Homa (which I'm not quite sure what her actual title is in the office, but seems to be able to do most everything) is the most patient and kind person I've encountered in a long time.
- The rest of the office (I don't know all of their names) is equally kind and patient from the front desk receptionist, the techs, the optometrist, etc.
- Overall, I wouldn't hesitate recommending Dr Mosaddegh and her office for your eye care.
Great experience, would recommend! This was my first time getting contacts, Mallory was very patient and nice to show me how to put them in and take them out!
I have been going to Dr Mosaddegh for my eyes for years. When your doctor cares about your eyes the way Dr Mosaddegh cares about my eyes I have no reason to ever go to another doctor period. The reason you have to wait to be seen is because she is such an amazing human being and she is an excellent doctor. If she was not excellent you wouldn't have to wait because she wouldn't have any patients. The fact that she is the only eye doctor that I would let do my surgery speaks for itself.. She is the best eye surgeon in California no doubt about! It! I don't mind waiting for the best eye doctor to check on my eyesight .
The care i receive with Dr. Mosaddegh's practice is "above and beyond" every time. Every member of her team is superb, very professional, extremely knowledgeable and very supportive. i would like to especially recognize Dr. A. Aguirre who is absolutely THE BEST person and physician I have encountered in many many years. I never had to wait longer than a few minutes for my appointment. The receptionist is so experienced with insurance and copayments and everything else, that she helped me immensely to make sure I had to pay the very minimum out of pocket. Everyone in that office is very kind, patient and caring. They all work very well together and it is reflected in the entire office atmosphere. I highly recommend Dr. Mosaddegh's practice!!
