As a new customer, the optometrist was so quick and careless about checking my prescription that it ended up being wrong. When I received my glasses, they hurt my eyes and I've had to continue wearing my old pair. I'll find a new optometry.
my contacts took over two months to arrive. delays are generally not a problem because your optometrist can make up the difference by providing free sample lenses during your wait, but this was 2 months and after the first few weeks they ran out of sample lenses
I was cheerfully and confidently told three separate times the contacts would arrive "on Tuesday", with no acknowledgement of previous missed Tuesdays, the contacts finally arrived over a month after the first Tuesday in question. the very friendly staff's total nonchalance suggests this is not an unusual delivery timeline
I eventually decided it would be nice to be able to see again and gave up and ordered from 1-800, _they_ managed to ship me vision within three days
I no longer needed the contacts from urban eyes and asked to either cancel the order or receive a discount or at least some kind of explanation, I was told there is nothing they can do, everyone is dealing with supply chain problems
I am not sure I believe this, 1-800 does not seem to be dealing with supply chain problems
Overall a wonderful experience! I stopped in with my partner to choose glasses but ended up being seen same day by the doctor who made time.
Considering that I was uncomfortable with my previous prescriptions, the doctor took time to explain each test to me and their findings. They provided some best practices for eye care.
Most importantly, this doctor didn't try to sell me any products or services. Not once: the focus was on care!
That being said, I was able to find three pairs of glasses that were unique, stylish, and fun. I can't wait to get them back.
The front desk attendant walked my through my insurance benefits so I could make the best decision. Above and beyond care.
Lawrence Tom is the best optometrist I've encountered in a half century! His brilliance cannot be overstated. He was a quick student, for sure, first at Berkeley and later at The New England College of Optometry. His graciousness is more than sufficient for the role. He has managed my emergent presbyopia by optimizing the refractive exam and recommending the right lenses, either eyeglass or contact lenses. His brother David, who manages the retail side, has been exceedingly helpful in picking the right frames and executing prescriptions flawlessly. They are a fabulous, unbeatable pair of brothers who run a fabulous, unbeatable business operation.
Have been going here for decades. It's family run and you become part of the family as a client. This is one of the best institutions in San Francisco in my opinion. A for example, David hand delivered to my house a pair of glasses he knew I needed in a pinch. Doctor Tom is extremely experienced and knows what is best for your eyes - even if the situation is complicated!
Dr. Lawrence is really nice and my new prescription feels right on. He answered all my questions and nobody was aggressive about selling me things I didn't need during my visit. Overall it was just an informative and positive experience.
This is one of the best optometrists I've ever been to. Everyone was very kind and lighthearted. They took every appropriate precaution against covid and still did so in a very polite way which I was very impressed by. The doctor was clearly well educated and honest, which is refreshing. He did not increase my prescription, which most doctors will do even when I haven't needed a prescription increase, and he did not pressure me into buying glasses, as I was only coming in for an eye exam. The sales associates were very honest and kind and also did not pressure me into buying anything I didn't want, which I greatly appreciate. I love that I was able to find a pair of glasses that I like just because I wanted to get them, not because I was pressured to buy something I don't need! They were very professional and helped me with everything I needed help with. Honestly not one single thing was not perfect during this visit.
I love Urban Eyes. I have been a customer in this store for many years. The store itself is appealing in that it is very open and bright. The frames are displayed in a very clear and organized fashion with plenty of places to sit down and compare styles, look in the mirror etc.. There is never any hard sell. Staff are present and happy to help but in no way pushy. This year, for the first time I had a problem with a very expensive frame breaking. I was really worried because I had not mishandled them, and I could not understand the breakage. I called the store and they were completely professional and accommodating. They had my frames fixed quickly and shipped them to me at no cost. They are really kind, understanding, excellent business people who take very good care of their customers. I feel lucky to have found Urban Eyes and I never go anyplace else for glasses.
