They squeezed us in for an emergency appointment for my 14 year old chihuahua. The front desk attendants/nurses were so helpful when my dog soiled herself, supplying a blanket and pad for my lap.
Dr. Li Puma explained everything in an easy-to-understand way and was so empathetic while giving my fiance and I autonomy over which surgery option was best for our girl.
On surgery day, there was a complication with my girls heart rate, and she called us to explain the situation and the two options we had yet let us make the best decision. She performed the surgery perfectly and as soon as she was out, we were called to ease our worries.
When we went to pick up our girl, the staff was so kind and understanding to my happy tears. We all exclaimed how cute my chihuahua is after her eye removal surgery. I felt so cared for, everyone is so kind.
I'm a helicopter mom, and was worried about my girl post op. The doctor chatted with me, and made a recommendation, which was so helpful. This office truly cares about their patients!
I highly recommend Dr. Li Puma. She is extremely informative, and has excellent bed side manners. She's also the best at what she does. Thank you again for caring for our little lady.
I live in the east bay and traveled over an hour to see this vet. My first visit was fine. However, my second visit never even happened. After driving over an hour, i was told the doctor was running late. After an hour, I was told they were still running late. This persisted for over three hours and I finally told them I couldn't wait any longer and just went home. The vet called me several hours later to apologize. However, I didn't call back and just decided to see another vet.
Two years later, I discovered that I was blocked from making appointments at any Sage Clinics in San Francisco - due to their unprofessionalism and in no way related to any action on my part.
When I spoke to them, they said that I had written rude text messages, which is untrue (see attached). They also said they informed me that there would be a significant wait at scheduling. This is also untrue or I would not have booked. They also said I was rude when asking when I would be seen. This is also untrue. I told them I couldn't wait any longer and received an apology message, then a request to schedule another appointment in 2025.
I am shocked at the unprofessionalism of this vet in the first instance. I cannot imagine blocking a patient from booking because of my rudeness and error, which is evidenced in the text messages between us. I also cannot imagine what basis they have in blocking me from booking at all Sage Vets.
I highly recommend seeking other care.

The vet was very caring and explained my cat's issue in easy to understand terms. I was and still am super impressed. The receptionist was very experienced and knowledgeable. Excellent place for care. Thank you!
The people who work at veterinary vision are all very knowledgeable and caring. When you notice every employee is genuinely happy to be a part of the team that's the first thing that tells you this company is being run the right way. I cannot say 1 bad thing about this establishment and my experience dealing with them. They helped my dogs dry eye problems and continue to monitor and adjust the medicines. Very professional and fair with pricing. If your considering bringing your animal to them you absolutely should you won't regret it. This type of review is not typically handed out by me unless I am genuinely impressed and happy with every level of my visit. Credit is given because credit is deserved.
Everyone here is so friendly, kind and honest! Dr. Maggie and Allie were so nice to interact with and seem so trusting! Definitely a great experience with them. Very happy my vet Mission Pet Hospital referred me to them.
My chihuahua always show signs on anxiety whenever I take her in to the vet. She pants heavily and poops everywhere and on everyone who handles her. She was so calm and relaxed, I thought they had sedated her. They were so gentle, warm, and loving she fell asleep. She was treated like a princess. Best vet ever, hands down!
I'm extremely disappointed with Veterinary Vision Animal Eye Specialists. I had a confirmed appointment for today following an urgent/emergency referral from my veterinarian for suspected acute glaucoma/elevated eye pressure and sudden vision loss.
I arrived at the Taraval (San Francisco) location at 7:50 AM for my scheduled visit, and I was told they could not see my dog because there was "no availability." Staff then instructed me to drive to the San Carlos location. I arrived there at 8:42 AM, and they also refused to see us.
If a clinic cannot honor scheduled appointments--especially for time-sensitive eye emergencies--then they should not be confirming them. This lack of coordination and follow-through wasted critical time, added unnecessary stress, and left us scrambling for care when our pet needed urgent attention.
I hope management improves scheduling accuracy, communication between locations, and the handling of urgent referrals so other pet owners don't go through the same situation.
I would highly recommend this place to address pet eye issues: My cat had a cancerous tumor as big as an eyeball growing under her eyelid, blocking her vision and causing discomfort and secretion. Dr Kate Freeman from Veterinary Vision on Taraval performed surgery to remove the tumor. Surgery was very successful and Dr and staff were wonderful from beginning to end. See before surgery and 7 weeks post surgery photos. My cat and I are forever grateful!
