I lived in NYC for over a decade and saw countless optometrists, they were all mediocre, impersonal, and never thorough.
When I moved to LA years ago a colleague recommended Dr Gonzalez and I am so thankful. Maylin is the BEST doctor I've ever had, if I moved, I would make trips to LA to continue seeing her.
Her level of care is fantastic. She's great at what she does, transparent, and as others say - takes care of everything from intake/scheduling to the exam. But the bonus touch for me is that her "bedside manner" is top tier. We have the best conversations and frankly, some visits I end up just sitting in the chair chatting for another 15 minutes about life, culture, politics.
I've referred multiple friends and each one comes back with a rave review.

Dr. Gonzalez handles everything herself from intake through exam to charges. This felt a bit regimented initially, as there is no receptionist, and everything gets scheduled and communicated online. The good news is there is no waiting in reception and you have the Dr.'s sole attention during your appointment; she runs an efficient, energetic, very professional (if idiosyncratic) operation. Her space is well equipped with the newest technology and a good range of frames. I found her very capable addressing my specific vision issues for prescriptions and very informative, and both skilled and pleasant on my return visit for an adjustment.

Dr. Maylin was exceptionally professional, and her office felt both punctual and calming from the moment I arrived. She explained every step of my exam clearly, which helped me feel comfortable throughout the visit. When there was an issue with my prescription glasses--no fault of hers--Dr. Maylin was very accommodating, saw me a second time, and even identified the error made by Costco, where I had purchased my glasses. I truly appreciate her dedication and care, and highly recommend her for her thoroughness and patient-focused approach.

I looked long and hard to find a good optometrist. I was blown away by the reviews and my experience with Dr. Maylin Gonzalez was every bit as wonderful as everyone described. She's super cool, super smart, has state-of-the-art equipment and she's fun to talk to! She also takes her time with you and really cares. Her selection of frames is amazing and I found one I loved right away which surprised me because I'm VERY picky. The glasses arrived and were great at first but then I realized they didn't work for me at night.
No problem, Dr. Gonzalez got me back in quickly, re-tested and came up with a solution, tested it on me in the office and had the glasses re-made in time for a trip I was taking. It's not easy to get the correct adjustment and I don't think I've ever had a pair of glasses that work as well for me as these do. I found my Optometrist for life!!

You can really tell how good she is at her job and how much she cares for her patients' wellbeing and health. I will now get the yearly exams I'm supposed to because it was such a great experience.
