I am always attended to promptly. Every thing is very well explained to me. They are very good about letting me know how my appointment went and what my options are.
Very nice and attentive staff.
I am Very impressed with the quality and professionalism I experienced recently. The staff treated me with respect and dignity. The extensive and cutting edge equipment was far better than any other eye care office. Dr. Craig was caring, very professional, answering any questions about treatments or potential future eye issues. Outstanding operation from top to bottom. I highly recommend. Jake
Staff is friendly, appointments are convenient and self pay prices aren't too bad
It's a very nice place and the exam was very thorough. However the VA doesn't pay for the whole exam. And they also do not have a contact with the VA for glasses. So I had to get another referral to the other eye doctor in town and go there for my glasses it was very frustrating. Not a huge deal for me but some of my fellow Vets are elderly and don't have the luxury of having their own transportation. Which wouldn't be a huge deal if they offered reasonable priced glasses. Kinda felt like a money grab. They wanted $950 just for the lenses they started out at $450. But after the add-ons it went up. And they don't expect insurance. So if you go there have a pocket full of money. Not saying they aren't good for some people but for people on a budget not so good.
I'm writing this as the son of a woman who had an extremely disappointing experience at Eyecare Specialties in Craig, and I'm honestly shocked by how she--and several other older patients--were treated.
She was told the day before that they accepted my nephew's vision insurance, only to be told they didn't once she arrived. She stayed for the appointment anyway, but the entire interaction was rude and dismissive. The man who had just checked her in walked over minutes later and asked if she'd "been helped" and then asked, "So you're just waiting on someone?" She clearly was--and it felt like they were treating her like she didn't belong.
After the exam, she asked for the pupillary distance (PD), which is a standard part of any complete prescription--especially if you're ordering glasses online. They refused to give it, citing a policy that you only get that info if you purchase glasses from them. That's not how prescriptions work. Patients have the right to fill them wherever they choose, and withholding part of it unless you pay their markup is not only unethical--it feels predatory.
To make matters worse, glasses with his prescription would've cost almost $400 through them, while the same pair online is under $100. We all know costs are rising, and not everyone--especially older folks on fixed incomes--can afford that kind of upsell. Taking advantage of that is just wrong.
What really upset me was how coldly they treated not just my mom, but other older clients in the waiting area as well. There was no patience, no kindness, just rushed and dismissive energy. These are the exact people who deserve extra respect and care, and I hate seeing my mom or anyone her age treated that way.
We won't be going back. If you want professionalism, kindness, and transparency, I highly recommend Mountain Eyeworks instead. They treated her with dignity, gave her a complete prescription with no questions asked, and were friendly the entire time--even knowing she wouldn't be buying glasses from them.
@Eyecare Specialties Craig
Just a heads up for anyone needing eye care in Craig--especially if you're on a budget or using insurance.
I had a really disappointing experience with Eyecare Specialties in Craig. Yesterday, they confirmed they accepted my grandson's vision insurance, but when I arrived today for his appointment, they said they didn't. That was frustrating enough, but things got worse.
While waiting for his exam to finish, the same man who had checked me in came over and asked if I'd "been helped." I told him yes, and then he asked, "So you're waiting on someone?" I was--obviously. It felt a little odd and dismissive.
After the exam, I went to pay and noticed the pupillary distance (PD) was missing from the prescription. I asked for it since it's needed to order glasses online, and they refused to provide it. They told me their policy is to only include PD if you buy glasses from them. I reminded them I was paying for the exam and prescription, but they stuck to their policy.
To be clear, doctors don't get to control where I fill a prescription--just like a pharmacy can't make you buy meds from them directly. The estimate for glasses there was nearly $400, while I can get them online (with the same prescription!) for under $100. It's my money and my choice.
My advice? Go to Mountain Eyeworks instead.
They gave me a full prescription without hesitation, were kind and professional, and never questioned why I was sitting in the waiting room. Even knowing I wasn't buying glasses from them, they treated me with respect.
I only went to Eyecare Specialties because I thought they took my grandson's insurance--but I won't make that mistake again. Just sharing in case it helps someone else avoid a similar situation.
No problems.
Excellent eye exams, product availability, always options to cater to your eye health. Respect, honesty, etc shared with everyone. Show room is amazing.
I would use no other.
Thank you
We have had such a great experience with eyecare specialties in Craig. Dr Vidas and Steve have taken amazing care of our son's eyecare needs. Starting with a corneal abrasion that turned into a bit of a big deal, they went above and beyond to do a thorough eye exam on a resistant 2.5 year old and then to get us the treatment and followup that he needed. Patience, kindness, expertise, they have it all. Very thankful for all they have done for us
