CO Retina Associates is a great organization. I am very grateful an eye surgeon was available to assist me with an emergency on a holiday weekend. I recently went in for a follow-up visit because of complications I have been experiencing for a year post-procedure. During the initial intake I spent 10 minutes describing in detail the symptoms of chronic eye-twitching and tearing in the treated eye. When Dr. Courtney entered the exam room he said "Good news, your retina looks perfectly healthy." He was unaware of the issues I had spent time explaining in-depth to the person I initially met with. I was dismayed about this. I expected the information I had shared would be communicated or read by the physician prior to meeting with me. When I told him about the eye-twitching and tearing he responded with a perplexed expression. He stated the retina repair would not have affected the nerves to my eye. I felt a bit gaslit. I then stated "this must have happened to other patients." To which he replied "only for 2-3 months." I do not feel very happy with how the appointment played out. I mainly went in to make sure there was nothing problematic going on from the retina repair that might be causing my continued symptoms. I had no issues with that eye prior to the procedure. I will live with the limitation. I guess mostly I did not feel validated. Dr. Courtney did not perform my retinal repair. I think he would probably do a fine job with that procedure.

I had an excellent visit with Colorado Retina Associates. Dr. Courtney is a great listener and explains complicated subjects in a very concise, easy to understand way. I had some follow up questions and his assistant was patient and happy to make sure I had as much clarity as I could walking away. Very positive experience overall, friendly staff, top tier service. Highly recommend!

Dr. Courtney diagnosed me with Pigmentary Maculopathy caused from Elmiron, 5 years ago. His inconsistencies caused me to seek a 2nd opinion. I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Courtney. After a genetic test and angiogram mid September 2025, of my eyes, I was correctly diagnosed with Pattern Dystrophy. For 5 years, my family has been worried if I would lose my eye sight, losing sleep. I've experienced extreme anxiety needing to seek therapy, lost countless hours of sleep, endless worry and stress for absolutely no reason. I will never forgive him for this.

Dr. Courtney is a wonderful doctor and I am so grateful that he is a part of my care team. My eye health deteriorated greatly a few years ago due to complications with type one diabetes. He was informative and supportive during that difficult time and coached me through laser treatments, injections and surgery in both eyes. Today, I have my vision and my life back on track. Dr. Courtney and his team are the absolute best and have played such an important part in my quality of life. I could never thank them enough.

Dr Courtney is an absolutely excellent provider. He is kind, pleasant, compassionate, gentle, and his communication skills couldn't be better. He is proactive when it comes to explaining the need to watch for vision changes and he is excellent at phrasing things in laymen's terms so they are 100% understandable. It doesn't matter how far Dr Courtney's office is located, I wouldn't consider putting my vision in anyone else's hands but his. I am so grateful for everything Dr Courtney has done for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks you Dr Courtney!!!
