Drs. Matoba Optometrists

This place is really great. I have seen both Dr. Joel and Dr. Kirk and they both are very thorough and patient and will take the time to explain everything and answer all your questions. It seems like they have the ability at that facility to run a bunch of different tests to look for different eye conditions as well which is awesome. Dr. Kirk was able to see me on short notice about a vision issue that felt very serious to me and was able to rule out a bunch of things and explain likely what was going on and what the next steps are. The front staff here is also very polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here. As someone else mentioned they also work with VA insurance which is great.

First eye exam in 35 years -- wish I hadn't waited so long! I'm 35 years old and had never been to an optometrist before. Honestly, I had a real phobia about anything near my eyes, so I'd been putting it off my entire life. I finally made the leap and saw Dr. Joel Matoba, and I couldn't have had a better first experience. From the moment I walked in, the office staff was welcoming and friendly. Dr. Matoba was patient, personable, and never made me feel rushed. He took the time to answer every question I had, educated me on what he was doing and why, and genuinely put me at ease. As someone who was nervous going in, that made all the difference. I was also impressed by how far the technology has come -- the whole process was far more comfortable than I'd built it up to be in my head. If you're looking for an optometrist, I can't recommend Dr. Joel Matoba enough. Book an appointment -- you won't regret it.

This is difficult to write but here we go... I have a traumatic brain injury as a result being hit in a head on motorcycle collision and was referred here by my neurology/concussion team. I am also an LGBTQ person and was treated as less than by Dr. Matoba - Ken I believe - the younger Matoba. He was clearly deeply uncomfortable with being in my presence and behaved so oddly that it made the experience even more painful than the excruciating visual processing challenges I've been facing. Despite being female, having given my drivers license - which also indicates my gender, and just being me - ie girly... Dr. Matoba specifically and intentionally marked indicated to my Neurology team that I'm a male with x issues in his clinical notes. As I have lawyers and an insurance claim for the accident, I have to download all notes by my providers - which is when I saw this... I called him but he indicated it was a system default - which is impossible because he wrote down his perception of my sex in his observations of me and along with his diagnosis. I'm guessing because I'm Native American and I'm not small or short, or fit whatever cultural norms he is used to, that he decided to insult me in his notes. I am switching practices because life is too short to deal with bigoted a holes and anti-lgbt haters. For those of you like me or LGBTQ or with children like me - you may do well to find somewhere you won't have to deal with prejudice and hate.

I'm a disabled Marine Corps veteran and recently visited the Drs. Matoba for an eye exam after experiencing some worsening eye problems. This was my fifth eye exam in seven months and wow, am I glad I chose Drs. Matoba from the list of health care providers given to me by the US Veterans Administration. My first impression after walking into the office was that I was actually in a professional health care facility and not a logo filled flashy showroom full of sales people in the business of moving product first and providing health care as a second sideline. The front office staff at Drs. Matoba were welcoming, friendly, professional and efficient. In short, a joy to work with. Dr. Joel Matoba is spectacular. After five eye exams in seven months from different doctors, I received the most thorough and most educational eye exam I've ever had in my 64 years of life from Dr. Matoba. For the first time in my life, I was shown what the doctors were seeing through their tests and pictures and Dr. Joel Matoba took the time to explain their meaning to me. I'm now much, much better educated as it relates to my eye health, how to maintain my eye health and finally have an eye care professional that I have faith and confidence in for the long term. After the exam, Dr. Matoba helped me select eyeglasses and started a plan to help manage my long term eye health moving forward. I look forward to working Joel and the rest of the Drs. Matoba team for a very long time.

I recently visited the Drs Matoba at the enthusiastic recommendation of my personal care provider. My PCP was right on the money! I was seen by Dr. Joel Matoba and I received the most thorough eye exam I've ever had. (I recently learned that I have diabetes & Dr. Joel was well versed with the issues that can affect one's sight as result of this disease.) Dr. Matoba was also patient with my limited mobility. Plus I was able to pick out a new pair of glasses at their office and I was given every discount that was available thru my insurance, saving me both time and money. If you're looking for an optometrist's office or if you're unhappy with your current optometrist, I highly recommend Dr. Joel Matoba and the staff at Drs. Matoba Optometrists.

I had the most pleasant experience with Dr. Kirk Matoba and his staff. I was experiencing some discomfort in my right eye and called their office for an appointment. I was able to get in that very day for treatment. When I came into the office I was promptly greeted and seen by the doctor within minutes. Dr. Matoba was so friendly and knowledgeable and was able to offer me relief right away. This was by far one of the best experiences I've had visiting a doctor. It was refreshing to be treated with care and respect in an industry that often pushes patients around like cattle. Thank you!

Dr Emily Matoba is absolutely awesome. She is so thorough, explains things very well and has such a wonderful way about her. Her staff is awesome as well. Great place, highly recommended by this nurse!

Dr Matoba office has friendly staff and clean environment. My first visit was not so good. The second visit I was able see a low vision specialist Dr. Kirk Matoba. He spent time talking to me able my issue AMD. During this visit he made a couple of suggestions on how he could help with my low vision. He ordered me a new custom pair of glasses to fit my prescription and modifications to frames per my request. It seemed to take forever to get them but when I got them I was delighted with the way they looked and after a couple of days I do feel like I can see better. Only had these glasses a couple of days and still trying to get use to the changes. As of today I'm pretty happy with the way things turned out. With time I'm hoping he can improve my vision a little more.
