I have been with CO West Ophthalmology associates for quite some time and the care and treatment I receive is excellent. Very thorough exams, excellent communication on the health of my eyes and sight. I don't need to leave my city to find quality eye care. Whether it's eye exams by staff or Dr. Oberg keeping my eye health with cataract surgery. The care I received is superior to none.

I had a referral sent to Colorado West from a local doctor. CO West wouldn't schedule me because of the place the referral came from. Very strange phone call and not a place or people that I would trust with my eyesight. I was just looking for a place here in Montrose for cataract surgery and they wouldn't even see me as a patient. Strangest phone call I've ever had with a medical professional. The lady on the phone said that she didn't want to agree to see me as a patient because she was worried that she'd get in trouble. I would never go somewhere that creates a shitty work environment for their employees and won't work with local eye doctors. Pretty pathetic.

My elderly mother was using this practice for regular eye exams and treatment for macular degeneration in one eye. She had been complaining of deteriorating vision in her other eye for some time. She ended up having glaucoma and they had missed it for months. She's almost blind now. Dane Stewart was her doctor but she also saw the other guy when Dr. Stewart was unavailable. They both failed to diagnose here in time to save her vision. Thanks guys.

In 2019, their Dr Stewart gave me exceptional care. Today I got equally exceptional care from Dr Kinnick. He was also very affable and even hilarious at times. While he was very attentive and well focused on assessing my eye health, he made the experience especially enjoyable. I could not have imagined any better care than what I received (twice!) at Colorado West.

I have been brushed off by people in my life but never so much so as this office. I came in for a stye I know not much however after medication drops and warm compresses twice a day it didn't go away. After six months of this I contact this office to set an appointment up it's been hard since I don't have insurance. I was told after $150 later to "keep doing what I'm doing" I have worked in the medical field and this was the most lackadaisical sense of practice I've ever seen the only reason I gave it 2 stars was for the receptionist because even though she never looked at me at least she wasn't smoking

Met with Dr. Stewart after another doc told me it was time to have cataract surgery. He walked me through why (he felt) this could wait, yet left me with a comfort level of returning in the future if I felt it was absolutely necessary. His professionalism and easy manner, including fielding all of my questions left me with a very positive experience and confidence I'd come to the right person. So good when you feel you can trust! (And he came highly recommended by 2 of my neighbors who had experienced this surgery with him.)

My experience at Black Canyon Surgical Center was excellent. I recommend to anyone having cataract surgery. The care was through and easy. Very professional and felt cared for. The staff and nurses and Dr. Stewart came thru for me. Seeing after 3 days and it gets better every day. I highly recommend Dr. Stewart and Black Canyon Surgical Center! I feel fortunate to have found the Dr and Surgical Center. Keep up the good work.

I have never seen a more arrogant, patient provider than Dr. Shad Saunders. If you have an elderly parent stay away from him. He spends little to no time with patients and when questioned, gets defensive. My Dad had one of the best eye specialists in the US. After moving my Dad up here, we have seen the bottom of the barrel with this guy. You always know the intestinal fortitude of "providers" when they are raking in the money, but barely even look a patient in the eye, while collecting it. This wasn't a one time visit, we've taken Dad to him for almost 1 1/2 years. What an absolute defamation to what a doctor should be. The elderly deserve respect, Mr. Saunders has none.
