My cataract surgery went very smoothly and I felt supported by the whole team from the scheduling of the appointment all the way through to the surgery and immediate post-op guidance thereafter. I'm so glad I had the surgery performed by Dr. Shakira as he is thorough when discussing treatment for my eyes, and has a kind bed side manner. I trust him completely.

My experience at Coastal Eye from start to finish was wonderful. The staff at the front desk were welcoming and pleasant, the technician that saw me was very kind, warm, and thorough, and Dr. Perdomo was excellent. He was extremely thorough in my exam and made me feel very comfortable. He took time to listen to my concerns and is clearly passionate about his career. Wait time was extremely minimal. Very pleasant and efficiently run office. Dr Shakir is excellent. Patient, doesn't rush you explains everything and extremely knowledgeable. I had cataract surgery in November 2025 and it was extremely easy. No pain no problems and post op was easy. My vision is great. I had multifocal lenses placed after the cataract removed. Couldn't have been any easier. I would highly recommend Dr Shakir and his office.

Dr. Shakir is exceptional. I had floater removal vitrectomy on both eyes with him, and he did an outstanding job. When it comes to eye care, I highly recommend him. I had my left eye done in October and was very pleased with the results.
For my right eye, I initially went to another in-network doctor since my insurance covered it, but the outcome was disappointing - the surgery left me with a large new dark floater. Dr. Shakir stepped in and performed a second procedure to fix the issue, successfully removing that large floater.
Because my right eye underwent two surgeries just four weeks apart, there is currently some blood in the vitreous. Dr. Shakir explained that this should gradually reabsorb and clear within about two months. I'm now three weeks post-op.
P.S. The procedure itself is very quick--about five minutes--and doesn't require an IV.

I had a few questions thinking about having my cataract surgery redone. The original surgery was done by a different office. It was suggested I speak with Dr. Shakir. Amazing man - gave me his absolute advice on whether this was a good idea for me or not or to continue with what the original plan was. Explained everything. I was so impressed by his mannerism, his knowledge and his advice. What great teams they have there. The staff is absolutely personable. I'm very impressed. Very very impressed.
