Review for Optical Express:
I am giving stars only for the kindness of the doctor and staff. However, this is the longest eye visit I have ever experienced in my entire life. From check-in to finish, it took TWO HOURS. That is an absurd amount of time for an eye exam when on average it's 30-60 minutes. I will be looking for another ophthalmology office in the future.
We heard so much about Dr.Vasques at Baskin Palmer Lennar institute, that we waited 3 months to have an appointment with him and it was well worth it. The comparison with our local doctor (we live in the keys) compared with Dr.Vadquez with his knowledge, information and advice about Glucoma is priceless, my husband is now able to only use 2 instead of 3 eye drops, and his Glucoma is actually down a few "degree". We also had to wait a few hours, but I understand,so be prepared .I only had the best experience with Dr.Vasquez and would wait 10 hrs.if I had to.
Thank you so much
I have heard great things about the quality of care at Bascom Palmer so I was ok waiting 3 months to be able to get in for a first general eye exam with Claudia O'Brien. My appointment was scheduled for May 6. On April 4 I received a text indicating that my appointment had been changed and I needed to call a certain number to learn more. I called that number and after being on hold for 55 minutes, as the call back option didn't seem to be working, I gave up and tried another number on the website. They were able to connect me with the office directly and I was informed that the doctor was going on vacation and my appointment had been moved to December 2nd. I have never experienced such poor service from a physician or supposedly premier medical institution in my life. I will be looking for another doctor as this is beyond ridiculous. Why you wouldn't give any priority or put someone that was rescheduled on at least a waiting list for cancellations is beyond me. I will make sure my friends in the area hear all about this experience lest they be thinking of booking with her.
This place was recommended by a friend who is extremely picky AND he was correct ! They are the best ! I had my appointment today with Dr Richard Morales and I was very impressed by how professional, thorough, smart and nice he was. The staff was also very nice. I'm definitely changing to them as my optometrists.
Every time I have gone to Bascom Palmer at Lennar, I have had excellent care from start to finish. On this last visit in Feb2025, I checked in and was called in within 5 minutes (even though I arrived a little early). After the initial eye exam, I was sent back to the waiting room as my pupils dilated. As soon as they were, I was seen by the doctor, who was both thorough and caring. I am really surprised by other reviews here.
1 star is doing Bascom palmer a favor, if only 0 was an option. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at a doctor's office. The lack of operational order is staggering. There is zero respect for patient time - I waited over 2 hours past my appointment time, only to be informed of the system being down. "You can leave or wait" is what was said to me by "patient experience". I was approached with rude and dismissive behavior. They seem to have no concept of professionalism. The absurdly long wait times are inexcusable. If you value your time and want to be treated with any semblance of respect, avoid this place at all costs. I'm basing this review by the terrible experiences I've had here over the course of 7 years. Management is a huge disservice to the techs and doctors, making them look bad.
I specifically requested an Opthamologist and was seen by an optometrist who tested my perfect vision. I had no idea they scheduled me with the wrong provider who did nothing for my condition except tell me to go to cvs and by over the counter drops. I Am on prescription drops and am already under the care of other doctors but came here for a second opinion and instead was given an eye test and am now getting billed $260 for a visit that I didn't ask for, didn't need and was unaware of. If they would have communicated to me at the time of checking in that I was not going to be seen by an Ophthalmologist I would have canceled. Instead , I waited 6 months for an appointment, took time off from work, and now getting billed for a service I didn't need. This is medical waste and I've tried multiple times explaining this w their patient experience department but they don't care and insist I pay for their mistake and my waste of time. I also filed a grievance with my insurance. I would avoid this office as all they care about is charging you, they fail to communicate properly and they do not listen to what the patient needs. Instead go to Dr. Jennifer Loh off Galloway and Sunset.
I see all the negative reviews but have only had a good experience thus far. I have been two years in a row now and saw two different doctors, both of whom were so good, nice, helpful, and professional. The people who help choose frames were patient with me and good at helping me choose frames for my face. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes at the most. I only took off a star because they have two different offices on two different floors and you can't see all of the frames at once. Otherwise, will plan to keep going there.
