I had a wonderful experience with the provider. He was very understanding and didn't mind my kiddos' wiggly need to touch everything or the questions I had. The optician was also wonderful--nothing but patience and friendliness with my inquisitive kiddos and, again, their need to touch everything and see how it all works. He broke the ice with a magic trick, instantly earning the trust of my shy boy. Here's where the missing stars comes in: the front desk crew is absolutely dreadful. They give off the impression that they simply do not have the time of day for their patients and that they're bothered by anything extra they may have to do, say, or answer. I felt like I was being a bother just by bringing back the clipboard. It honestly made the experience a bit nerve-racking. Example #2: When calling to ask a general question about prescriptions and how they work, I was met with rudeness and dismissal. After I pushed a little for an answer, I was told, "I don't know, I'm not the doctor. Hold," and was placed on hold. When she returned, she said, "I cannot answer your question; it would violate HIPAA"--even though I was only asking a general, non-specific question.

Clayton was very helpful and helped me wrap up my visit nicely. He also made sure I was aware of insurance rules that I was not privy too. Wishing him a speedy recovery!!

Eye Express in Lakeland. Located at 5528 US Hwy 98 North has excellent customer service. Both Agents, Amber and Sheena, help in selecting and adjusting the glasses. I have been going there for several years and always received a friendly welcome from the whole staff. Representatives Amber is knowledgeable, professional, and enthusiastic! She makes sure that her customers are satisfied with their services. I am 100% satisfied with their services and prices! I was just there on 1/6/26. Both Agents , Amber and Sheena, are SUPER FRIENDLY!! I highly recommend this office!

I came in today to physically order my contacts, and was suddenly told I needed to be re-examined because it's been over 90 days, however still within the year window. At no point was I EVER told that another appointment was required or that anything needed to be "finalized." This office has zero communication and even less accountability. Trying to reach anyone here is a nightmare -- you're on hold for 30+ minutes, assuming someone even bothers to answer. I finally had time to stop in, only to find out I'm basically screwed because they never finalized my prescription. I asked for trial lenses just to get me by until I could get another exam, and even that was declined. This place is ALWAYS a disaster. Disorganized, unprofessional, long wait times, phones ignored, and absolutely no willingness to work with patients. I've been loyal to this office for over 15 years, but after today, I'm completely done. They clearly don't care about their patients, and I won't waste another minute or dollar here.

Having spent a year and a half with glasses from an online company we decided to fully invest in a brick and mortar service to compare the resulting eyewear over the next year. We received an excellent exam complete with scans and full explanations of the results. Dr. Burtner is thorough and efficient but still takes time to answer questions fully. My tech, Crystal, was equally efficient while being very personable and open to conversation as we went through the preliminary tests and routines. That personal connection always makes appointments like this seem so much more comfortable. Thanks Crystal! And finally Dirma helped us pick and fit our frames. Very knowledgeable and again just super friendly. We spent as much time in casual conversation as we did in talking about the eyewear. All in all a great experience and I am certain these glasses will be exactly what we need when we pick them up! High recommendations all around.

I called first thing Saturday morning because I had a concern for a possibly eye emergency. The receptionist was so friendly when she answered the phone, and although they didn't have any medical appts available but she said she was going to talk to the doctor to see about squeezing me in. They were able to see me within an hour and were all super friendly. Thankfully it ended up not being an emergency but it relieved my concerns and I didn't have to wait until Monday to be seen.

All the ladies were awesome! It was my child's first eye exam. He has autism and they were very patient with him. Will continue to come see them and recommend everyone I know to come for an eye visit.

They have been very helpful and kind. They helped me pick a perfect pair of glasses and explained the options to me and cost. They made time for me when I was not scheduled in for an appointment and they even fixed my safety glasses and put new side shields on so I can wear them to work. The environment is calm and they have a good selection of glasses and sun glasses to choose from. They are family oriented and seem to always make sure the customer is happy. Thank you for helping me and making each visit as good as possible.
