Awful Experience with Dr. Murphy My girlfriend had an appointment today with Dr. Murphy for a contact lens exam, and it was one of the worst experiences we've ever had with a healthcare professional. Her contact prescription had just expired and she was completely out, so we scheduled this visit specifically to renew it. From the moment we entered the exam room, Dr. Murphy was unwelcoming and dismissive. The first thing he asked was, "Where are your glasses?"--to which my girlfriend explained that she wears contacts, not glasses. She had already been out of contacts for a week to let her eyes rest before the exam, which is what she's always been instructed to do as a long-time contact lens wearer. Despite this, Dr. Murphy seemed angry and confused, questioning why she didn't have glasses on or with her. She explained that she owns a very old pair that she hasn't worn in years due to a condition that makes glasses ineffective for her. He demanded we retrieve them from the car and told her, "You're not prepared," before tossing a paper down and saying he would see other patients first. We hadn't even had a chance to give him her previous prescription, and his tone and attitude made the entire situation extremely uncomfortable. It was shocking behavior, especially from someone with years of experience. We ended up leaving before completing the exam because we refuse to spend another dollar--let alone the $600+ we spend annually on her specialty contacts--at a practice where the doctor treats patients with such disrespect and lack of empathy. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.

Impatient. Talked over me. Suggested I get cheaters at the store Didn't let me know that after he dilated my eyes that I should stick around because he was going to see me again. ( makes sense but for someone who hasn't been to an eye doctor in decades he should have explained). . I suppose after 60 years of doing the same thing he knows what he's doing, but I didn't feel he listened to me.
