I had caterac surgery in my right eye at Perich's office in New Port Richey in early 2024. The surgery was successful. My vision after the surgery was 20/40. I had an eye exam two weeks ago and the vision in my right eye had gone to 20/200. The optometrist said it was due to excessive clouding around the lense and that a lasering of the eye would clear it and restore my vision. I called Dr. Perich's office, told them of the condition and was told there was nothing they could do for me. My feeling the optomoligist who performed the surgery should be responsible for the work he did, not indicate to the patient that he is not responsible.
I've been a patient of Dr. Larry Perich since his 1st practice in Palm Harbor in
the early 80's. He was there for me for retinal detachment and support with RGP Contacts and all of my medical and optical needs. I was always told back then to pray for cataracts so he could correct my extremely poor eyesight. Well fast forward 30 years and he is still taking care of me! Just had my cataracts removed and multi focal lens implants! It is truly a miracle! He and his entire staff are so compassionate and professional. I highly recommend them for your optical and medical needs!!
Have been taking my neighbor for treatment for the past year, every time it's a 3 to 4 hr wait. They removed a cataract from one eye and it has never been right. They keep saying there's nothing wrong with it and giving her drops and they keep pressuring her to do the other eye. One doctor said there was a fold in the lense but no one will admit to it now. They just keep giving her drops along with everyone else in the waiting room( we have time to talk). In my opinion this place is a big Medicare scam and I wouldn't take my dog there!
I should have written this review a long time ago. I went to Dr. Larry Perich for a terygium removal (I am sure the spelling is incorrect), very minor procedure. I asked, "how much time should I plan to be out of work?" He replied only a couple days, I would be fine...I explained I am in Law Enforcement and eyesight had to be back to normal, no problem, a couple of days again he told me. In the recovery room, I was told by the assistant that Dr. Perich had placed dissolvable stitches and they would not be a problem. In the days to follow the surgery, my eye continued to be very scratchy, unbearable...I made an appointment with the office in my area to have one of his physicians check it. The prescribed an ointment to soothe the irritation, I asked if there were stitches to be removed and they said NO. When they checked my vision, I was almost blind in that eye. I made an appointment to go to back to see Dr. Perich in his Seven Springs Office. When asked why I was there, I proceeded to tell them about the horrible irritation and about the dissolvable stitches. The assistant, advised he nevers puts in dissolvable stitches. Then WHY wasn't I given a return date to remove the stitches...she rushed out of the room and did not answer. ANGRY!!! When I finally saw Dr. Perich, he had no explanation, but removed the stitches. I still have a gap in the eye that never closed up. It was several weeks before my vision improved enough to return to work in Law Enforcement. PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING....DO NOT LET DR. LARRY PERICH touch your EYES. If I could give less than 1 STAR I would. It should be a NEGATIVE 10. Since this time I have had the same issue with my other eye and very hesitant to have the removal, but this time I found an outstanding eye doctor.
I absolutely had nothing bad to say about Dr. Perich and what happened during my surgery. Prior to going into the operating room I was being prepped by some wonderful nurses. The people when you enter the building were very pleasant. I wasnt given any numbing medication in my left arm where the iv was placed. I know this because I can always feel them putting it in my arm because most time it burns me. Nothing at all was given to me and I screamed. Im upset because I called and spoke to Corporate and I dont feel like they seemed to care that someone spoke to me for 12 minutes and 53 seconds and people kept telling me I dont know who it was. Basically the person implied my condition was worse and told me to go to Springhill the next day at 11am and the Springhill Office told me 2x Gail we have no notes on your chart so dont come in. The person led me to believe I was going blind. I become so fearful, had severe anxiety, panic attacks and I take blood pressure meds 1 2x a day and another one 1x a day. This caused my blood pressure to be elevated numerous times. I went to Mass. thinking I would never be able to see my young grandaughters face ever again. The Cataract surgery didnt help at all it actually made my vision worse and I kept telling ev1 that I could not see and fell down atleast 10x. I fell on a glass end table and broke it and had cuts all over me. I also didnt appreciate being in the operating room wide awake and a nurse telling me Miss Gail no negativity in here we need to get our work done before the Dr. comes in. I was talking to someone about my sons 2 sons that are deceased and im grieving terribly and if they read my charts they would have known I have generalized anxiety and I was anxious because I had nothing but a 5mg valium 20 minutes before I went in there which didnt help me at all. I didnt fall asleep like the other 3 patients I was playing candy crush. What right did that nurse have to call me talking about my sons being negative? I actually talk about my sons to keep their memory alive and I was pretty agitated when this was said. There were no signs in the operating room that said NO TALKING!! She basically was telling a person thats bipolar, has anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, severe depression to shut up!! My other issue is when I called the medical records dept. the woman raised her voice at me and her tone of voice changed. Im so sick and tired of having a Mental Illness and people speaking to me condescending or treating me like im stupid or dumb. I worked in Human Services for 25 years working with all populations and dealing with behaviors and I did graduate from High School and some college courses as well for a year. I was an Assistant Director so I know that when I called up to ask for my medical records the woman was telling me that I didnt need to sign a release for my records and I wasnt going to argue with her because I knew anytime you need medical records you need to sign a release form. Some places dont charge you after feeling a needle in my eyes because I was not given numb medication you think they would atleast not charge me for all the pain, anxiety, and PTSD that it caused me. I asked Dave from Corporate that I wanted an apology from the person that forgot to put the numbing medication in my arm to just send me a card or something all the person had to do is just say on a card im sorry. Apparently they must have thought I was going to sue and they were wrong because if I wanted to sue I would not have gone back to the office and seen a Dr. who when I was trying to explain why would someone in the operating room ask me what I am? His response was I dont know or care. Well I care because I had 2 sons that were biracial and im tired of living in a world where people of color are treated differently! Why would someone need to know that?
I previously wrote a glowing review after Dr Komm did my cataract surgery but with Dr. Komm leaving soon after and over time, I realized that Dr. Miller and Dr. Perich weren't so good after all. For 2 years after my cararat surgery, I had "halos" from any light entering my right eye. I was told all sorts of reasons to wait for it to clear up and it never did. Until Dr. Lary Perich said he saw something in that eye that he could laser off would cause the "halos". He asked me if that would make me happy if he was able to get rid of the "halos". I said "of course, that was the reason I was there". What he should have said is "if I get rid of the "halos" AND KILL THE SIGHT IN THAT EYE, will that make you happy?" Because that's exactly what he did. That eye is just one big blur now, after spending money for upgraded contaract lenses, and even glasses don't clear it up. The sight in it was good prior to that. In retrospect, I should have been happy with the "halos" as I could at least see out of that eye then!!!
The office staff is awesome but I do not recommend these doctors.
What a wonderful experience. I visited the office in New Port Richey and the staff was impressive. Everyone was very knowledgeable and all of my questions were answered with none unanswered. Dr. Larry Perich and the rest of the staff were very friendly and I left the office feeling cared for as a person. Would definitely recommend to anyone in need of eye care in the Tampa area.
First visit today was excellent. The staff was great and I had no wait time. Dr Perich explained everything in detail. He did not rush my visit.
