Kyle Bettis

I went to Premier Vision in Ormond Beach, to se Dr. Bettis, for an urgently needed vision report to maintain my driver's license. I passed the visual acuity test, but Dr. Bettis restricted me to daytime driving only--based solely on the presence of cataracts. He performed no objective testing of my night vision, contrast sensitivity, or glare tolerance, and didn't ask whether I was having any difficulty driving at night. His approach seemed to be: "If you have cataracts at this level, you shouldn't drive at night." That's an oversimplified and medically weak assumption. Cataract severity alone doesn't determine functional night vision--some people drive safely with them, others cannot--and without testing, the conclusion is arbitrary. Worse, he did not disclose the restriction when handing me the sealed report. I discovered it only after requesting a copy for my records. When I questioned him, he offered no clear explanation or compassion--a cold and dismissive response. I later saw another optometrist who tested me thoroughly and confirmed I met all requirements with no need for restrictions, showing that Dr. Bettis's judgment was incorrect and incomplete. In my opinion, Dr. Bettis showed poor communication, little empathy, and inadequate medical reasoning. I recommend avoiding Premier Vision and seeking an optometrist who bases decisions on objective testing and patient dialogue, not blanket assumptions.

I went to Premier Eye to have my cataracts removed. Had the first one done by Dr. Aliancy two weeks ago. The vision in my left eye is 20/40. I'm scheduled for the next surgery in July. So far Dr. Aliancy has been a Godsend. However, this morning I went to see Dr. Bettis for follow up post surgery and was not very thrilled with him. He had no personality and was somewhat cold. Only gave one word answer a to any questions I had.
