Tomoka Surgery Center

Recently had cataract surgery.at the center. Itt is a professional and caring center What really impressed me was the anesthesiologist. She took the time to explain everything including the reason behind the dos and don't especially chewing gum. To me the procedure was very scary. Dr Zobin was great especially trying to keep me calm. still got one more eye to do and I will be going back to to Tomoka Surgery center

*Be Warned - Medical Billing Malfeasance* I wanted to share my recent experience with you which I hope raises awareness. My partner had a cataract surgical procedure done today. Prior, we spoke with the office to ensure all billing matters were in order and were told the out-of-pocket would be $60. The day were arrived, we were surprised the amount owed turned out to be $632 due to our insurance deductible (which makes sense as we are in a new year). The debacle was how the office handled communicating this information. A sour-faced front desk employee lied to our face and said she had called and left a message with this information - she didn't. Here's where it gets interesting and the office lost all credibility -- a quick call to the insurance company confirmed the deductible was only $420 which means the office was overcharging us by $212. Once we pointed this out to the office manager, the paperwork was quickly updated, but by then all trust was lost. The procedure was successful, however, our overall trust greatly decreased as it appeared businesses (and that is what healthcare is now, just a business) are intent on scamming, lying, or taking advantage of the uninformed. Check your medical bills - ask questions to ensure understanding of what you're paying. I also experienced a similar issue with my dentist two years ago which shows it's rampant.

Dr.Hess is fabulous!! I'm a retired nurse and believe me when I tell you I know an excellent Dr.!! The staff is fabulous!!

Dr. Zobian and his staff are wonderful! Couldn't be more pleased with my outcome after cataract surgery.
